FSCA July 4 outing

D/B Independence Day “Hang Out”
Wed, July 4, 2007 @ 8 am on Lake Okeechobee @ Lock 7

We are planning to set a mark at 50 feet and another at 100 feet for you to pass in your boat on a plane. This is not to see who has the quietest airboat, this is for you to have knowledge of what decibel reading your vessel puts out at these marks, so later, when you hear talk about sound that a vessel puts out at 50 and 100 feet you will know if you can achieve this goal. This will also give you a chance to see what other users are doing to achieve less sound. Also socialize with others to see what they're doing to achieve these goals.

The cost will be free to FSCA members and $20 to non-members we will also have pulled pork sandwiches, chips, soda and water. There will also be a 50-50 raffle, which will go to the FAA lobbyist fund.

Directions to Lock 7 ramp is on the North side of Lake O. It is at the junction of Highway 78 just west 441. Turn into Jaycees County Park go over the Hoover Dyke and down the paved road and look for the FSCA trailer on the shoreline. There is a dry and wet ramp available to unload.

Jeff thanks for RSVP and looking forward to seeing you and Dawn we are out to just have some fun and gain a little knowledge at the same time. Charles looking forward to seeing you there have not seen you in quite some time and like always we can use your help. I hope to meet you fat boy and looking forward to see you there. The FSCA put this on in a different location four years ago, for our members to understand the sound their vessel creates it proved to be very educational. We are looking to see some new faces so come out and take part :D

Yee-Hah!

The big lake's gotta be coming up after last night's rain here! I think they've had the locks open here for awhile now. Been awhile...can't wait to ride the Okeechobee again!

Rick, can this be move to the upcoming rides/other planned events or somewhere to be more visible?

I'LL BEE THERE
Looking forward to seeing everyone. The only question I have is how long are they going to leave the sound check set up? I am towing up in the morning and won't be there till 9 ish. By the time I get in the water it could be 10. Would love to make the run thru the traps and see where I am running at.
Ready for a ride. See yall there.
Tim

thats weird my wife will be in st louis that week visiting my youngest daughter and i have a quiet boat, might just have to come an see yall do ya mine new members id rather join than pay the 20

This is what we had in my, we would rather you join the club in return you will receive our newsletter and learn more about the FSCA. We are also planning a barbecue lunch and would say we will be there till at least 1 or 2 p.m. or later if need, we are looking forward to making this an successful event. I am excited to see y'all there and believe this will be a very good education for all of us :?: I have been playing with my new decibel meter this week I learned that your average Bass boat puts out around 86 dB at 100 feet and standing next to the air conditioner unit alongside my house puts out 96 dB at 1 foot. I was wondering if I could live without air conditioning because I know I can't live without my Airboat. Looking forward to spending a great holiday with all of y'all :D

Hey ya'll,

Gotta bump this one back to the top. Sounds like this will be a good deal. I aint' been on the big lake for over a year now, (last chance to see it at record low)?

I believe we all gotta help when/if we can, this is one small way to do so. The numbers gotten from these sound testings are important to what information gets sent to Tallahassee!

And a barbecue to boot! :thumbright:

No air-conditioning! Man, I'd be out of a job!

Its nice to hear that you guys are coming down (and up ) to participate, you guys will leave with the information on the sound level your boat produces, as well as meet some really good hard working club members from the FSCA, we have members that attend almost all public meeting, if it pertains to recreation, or access rights we will be there, consistently working with state and local governments we are are at the forefront of information,if you have a question or concern about an issue in the state just ask a member of the FSCA more than likely you'll get your answer, if not you will be directed to someone directly related to the issue that can.

FSCA also is committed to youth education, working with the FWC to help launch the Youth Hunting Program of Florida, mentoring children and their parents on a full weekend of activities, arming them with the skills and the knowledge to continue to pursue the hunting heritage on their own.
FSCA put on 6- youth hunts last season, and held our first of this season on fathers day weekend.
we also host an annual Youth Day event held at the Everglades Youth Conservation Camp, a day full of outdoor activities that will bring out about 1,000 kids of all ages.

Educating the general public with events like our annual Gator Feast to promote the ethical harvesting and game management of Alligators, this event is held opening night at Slims fish camp in Belle Glade, last year we had 2- newspaper men and EVERY t.v. news station including CNN covering this event. good positive public relations.

In which brings us to host the Independence Day Hang out, the motive is to bring concerned air-boaters together to test your ride and provide you with accurate numbers on what decibel level you boat produces sound.
So you will Know when your local and state officials are trying to set a un - realistic
mark.
We as air-Boaters must educate ourselves to better fight this issue, days are long gone when you could just draw a line in the sand, and challenge some-one to cross.
they are picking us a part one user group at a time.
To increase are member-ship and gain our political power (member-ship numbers) we are offering to test your ride for free with a paid member-ship.
