Fuel Additive

Should you add some type of additive to your fuel if your boat sets about a month between runs? If so, what type/brand should you use? I guess the ethanol in the gas is pretty bad on corrosion to your tank, fuel pump and carb. Thanks for the input.

Sea Foam is the best for storage....Might want to ad some. It'll clean your engine also. Great for removing carbon.

Star Tron, google it and make your own decision. Try and keep your tank full so the ethanol will not attract moisture.

Ive been using Sta Bil marine formula in my offshore boat and am very happy with it. Star Tron is also a very good product to negate the effects of moisture attraction with ethanol.

I assume if U run a car motor on your AB you should add automotive(not marine) stabil? I doubt there's a difference between the two.

I was wondering if there was an actual difference between the two just the other day myself. Reading on the bottle, the claim is that the marine line is a higher concentrate and has more water inhibitors for todays ethanol fuels, which we all know is crappy in a regular environment and exponentially more so in a marine environment. So according to the bottle the Marine variant is a higher concentration than the regular formula.

I was wondering if anyone had a preference between the Sea Foam and the Stabil Marine. I have heard alot of good things about both.

I prefer Sea Foam...We run it in race boats to clean the carbon off the pistons (outboards). We would check the pistons after each pass with a bore scope. Unbeliveable how that stuff cuts the carbon off. It will get rid of water also. Like anthing else, everyone has a choice.

I run the Stabil Marine in my aircraft boat and my center console boat, never had a problem. My water separators get changed every 50-75 hrs also. Make sure you have good fuel lines also, just seen some "factory" outboard fuel lines changed out @ 6 months use and plugged almost solid with the ethanol crystals, I know on the merc outboards the problem hose goes from the motor to the primer bulb, most other hose was fine.
