Just wondering what kind of fuel I need to run in a 0-200 continental. I was told I can run just regular fuel but I want to be safe not sorry. Any help would be great. Thank you.
They normally run about 7:1 compression so car gas should be fine, but i would recommend using a lead additive in with it. These motors were built with lead fuel in mind, so it helps with the valve seat wear.
I use 100 LL. Has the lead you need. Has a stabilizer (never had any "go bad"). Engine runs cooler and it smells great! Yes, it's expensive;but, so is fuel related problems and missed time riding. ccasion5:
That's not bad advice Harvey but the 0-200 was designed to run on pump gas and if someone doesn't have access to AVGAS then at least they have the security of knowing their motor was designed to use regular grade fuel.
The chart says my 470 takes 91 and that's what I run in the winter but in the summer I do just like you say and use AVGAS or a AVGAS/91 mix.
$3.66 self serv. Big Feather. (at CCO-Coweta County)
Neat chart there BPS. I see what you mean (after putting on my glasses). I guess that is some wasted octane. I have also mixed it when I was running low on the 100 LL. I have used the additives also;but, noticed some sediment in the clear fuel bowl? coinkedink? Don't know. The AV gas has always been clean.
