Funding this Site

Hello Rick,

I know it cost money to support a site like this, is there anything us airboaters could help you with in funding this site?

I'll answer this one.... since I'm the one who shamelessly points it out all the time. LOL

Glad you asked Tim!

Every page has a small subtle link at the bottom of it... "spport this site"

Or click here...
http://www.southernairboat.com/support.php

You get some stickers in the mail ( I heard a new design is soon to come out - maybe) and you get a pop email account, you get access to a hidden message area, and more storage for your photo gallery. I think there is more but send some moolah Rick's way and you'll see.

The BIGGEST benefit is that it keeps this site a level playing field. No big advertising contracts, with annoying banner ads, and censorship over opinions, or obligations to any particular advertiser.

Cold 'eh and the other canadians... this is for you too....

And in the "Feb Run" thread, I think you asked about where we all are from. There is a cool map put out by some subsidary of Google called "Frappr Map" and it allows you to enter your zip code, and a map pin appears near your location. It's not so much that you have to give out private info - just you zip. You need to put in a "shout-out" which is just a line that most use to say hello. And you can upload a photo too.

It's a pretty cool map, I like the way to zooms and scrolls. Check it out....

Welcome to the family Tim!

Hope to see you ridin' with us soon... and I hope to be able to check it out up there sometime too!

Everyone is SOUTH of somewhere... Welcome to Southern Airboat!

:)

matt.

Tim,

Mood is right about the support, (I know I'm gonna get things thrown at me but here goes)! I truly wish we could "vote/poll" in an annual support for Southern Airboat similar to annual membership club fees. I think this would also keep the "Trudys" off of Southern Airboat!

Where else can one get this much reliable information for free on airboating? I continue to applaud Rick, the moderators, and site supporters here as well as the valuable information members give here on Southern Airboat. Although I feel Southern Airboat is ready to go to the "next level" on the "playing field" with the help and support of it's members.

Basketcase/Jeff

P.S. Please keep in mind that if this were to ever materialize I do reserve the right to run for "club instigator", (yeah I know it would be a tight race between me and Cntry)

SAO Family,

I pay dues to several airboat clubs right now and to FAA. They all serve a noble purpose - however, I get more information and inspiration from the SAO Family than many of the others. I am willing to make the "site supporter" an annual investment.

Hey Thanks guys,

I am now part of the frapper, pretty cool.

I find out more stuff every week about this site.

I better get some work done today,

Thank You all again, and hope to meet you all some day.

I'm good for an annual membership too, BigDaddy ......

Tim, on the other thread Cntry and Airboat RN were tellin you right. With a little notice we can not only get you and your bride boats seats, but beds too. Fair warning however. Once you get a taste of this Southern cookin, your life will never be the same :) .

I am always up for change.

I am the type of guy that will drive of the interstate 40 miles just for some good old home cooking.

I will take you guys up on that offer sometime.

Tim Bryson

Thanks Tim.

It couldn't have come at a better time. We're upgrading our web server due to high bandwidth & disk space. We've had over 1,000,000 picture views in the past year and around 100,000 in the past month. That adds up to over 30 gig of bandwidth for the month.

All "Site Support" money goes back into the site.

I think we're gonna remove the text ads also. That way we'll be 100% member-driven AND supported. I really like the sound of that for some reason.

Yep I am with Big Daddy, we get more from this site than anywhere else. Let us know what you need Rick. You know we are here.

Theres the majic words.......All the money goes back into the site. Ok I'm in for a year, Ill do the auto thing with my card and pay pal I guess. Shame we cant just do the plastic direct, but I know that costs for SSL and such.

Scotty

Ok did my part. Hoe it helps. It seems worth the small fee.

So Do I automatically get my stars when its cleared or are they mail-order? hahahahahah

Scotty

Rick I just hope the people from Nebraska will get hooked on your site as much as I am.

I look forward to the years to come to meet you all on this site.

Rick (Richard?)

I know theres formalities and such but please show me as Scotty. I simply do NOT use my first name. I just put it in when required for formal stuff.

This site is cheep reference material at ten time the price man. Not to mention good folks to share ideas with.

Scotty

I sent another donation and I refer people to the site almost daily. I think it is a very small price to pay for the service we all recieve.

There is a saying that I use in my business,

The bitterness of Poor Quality Remains long after the sweetness of low price.

I hope that anyone that reads this, will say to themself I feel the need to keep this site up and running here is $25. or $50 bucks.

I am trying to put togther a email list of Nebraska Airboatters so we can become better united as a group here in Nebraska, the more we all talk the closer we become.

Sometimes you need to spend a little bit of money to keep a group together.

Bitterness...good one Tim.

Here's one of my favorites:
The quality will be remebered, long after the price is forgotten.

Cowboy

I like that one, been awhile since I heard that. It speaks the truth.

Stay safe on the water.

Thanks everybody.

We did upgrade the server since my post above...in that post, I referred to 30 gig of bandwidth & 1,000,000 picture views in a year. That was referring to December stats. As of March, we're over 45 gigs of bandwidth for the month & about 1/2 million picture views in just three months.

As always, "stars are optional". There's a lot of ways to support Southern Airboat, but we're growing about as fast as the price of gas, so the financial support really is appreciated.
