Ran out of gas Friday night...............Just finished putting the distributor back in, prop on and could not wait to splash the 14ft deckover(flux capacitor) boat.....................got about half way out and started thinking???last time out we put about 10 gallons in and ran for 10 minutes before turning back because the ole engine mounts were shot. The gas guage does not work (new boat), so the (bud light side of me) said"you have enough of gas to do a quick ride GO ON". So we proceeded to go into the weeds. Lo and behold, the ole flux capacitor ran out of cryptonite and we were stuck. Being the experienced airboaters we were, we had a gallon of water, 2 MRE's(one chicken and one meatball) and an unspecified amount of BEER! We sat in about 2 inches of water in an open pond with 15 Mile per hr wind, no mosquitos and an unspecified amount of BEER. My partner(who wishes not to be recognized) said this made his bad day feel like a ride at Disney World, and begged me not to call the troops. Out of desperation, we informed a few of the (airboating community) that we were stranded and getting low on (an unspecified amount of BEER). Rick was beeped on the ole trusted NEXTEL in case any SA members were in the area. Rick asked" How low are you on those (unspecified amount of BEERS) and should I send a (BEER) truck to rescue you". I informed him we had a couple of (Married men looking for an excuse to come out at 11PM to rescue us if we got too low on those unspecified amount of BEERS. So the troops showed up, and we ended up staying out till the wee hrs of the night. Moral of the story, always check your gas level after the boat sits for 3 months. Make sure you have that gallon of extra water on board, enough of food for dinner, some friends who are willing to come out and get you, and an unspecified amount of your beverage of choice should you make the mistake of not knowing how much fuel you have on board. Big thanks to Bunker, Chip, Nicole, Poo Bear, and Pav............for bringing us more (Beer). We couldn't of survived the night without you. OOH yeah, that 5 gallons of gas helped too.
