Gator Hides?

Anyone have the latest on what the prices are going to be on hides? I heard they are the highest they've been in the last 10 years...

Clabrook Farm, Inc. 407-568-0134(Christmas, Fl) sent out a flyer - $25.00 a foot for 7 foot or bigger... Froehlich's Gator Farm (Christmas) is my favorite selling spot.

You guys are kind of talking apples and oranges though. Hides are at a high for the last 4 years. But the claybrooks price quoted was for whole alligator. If you wait and take the cleaned, salted, hides to validation you should be able to get in the upper 30's is what I have heard. But now you have to have them processed or skin them yourself. (you better know what you are doing or they will grade you bad). Whole alligators I am hearing 14-28 per ft depending on size. I have not heard what Froelichs is paying though.

Just called Froehlich's (Christmas) a quality "company" and more than honest, they are paying $35.00 a foot for a gator over 5' ... you get the head back if you want ...

I have the flyer in my hand from Froelichs had them fax it to me.

4-5 ft are $25 per ft and 6ft and up is $35.00.

thanks guy's, just happened to talk to them also, wanted to find out what they charged for processing also. They seem to be reasonable.

Be sure to plan to be able to cool your catch should it be late and can't (or don't want to) drive to Christmas that night... find out when they will accept your Gator... suggest you build a cooler out of 3/4" insulation board and duct tape... you can cut the taped seams and store it for next year, and the next year... also, start making your own ice if you have the room in your freezer.
