Gator Hunting Lake Jasup

Can anybody here share and give a first time gator hunter information on Lake Jesup. Got lucky and got this pick during the draw, would like to know what is the best and safest place to drop the boat and leave the truck/trailer at, know of 3 locations just don't know which is best. What area has the most promise, looks like the north shore east of 417 has promise. Who would be the processor in the area to contact, heard of 2 in Orange County and 1 in Seminole County. Any inputs will be welcomed. PM me or call if you like. My phone is in the A.H.A. section.

Black hammock fish camp, and the public ramp on 46 just before osceola rd. are both good spots.I will be hunting the first and fourth weeks on jesup as an agent for two friends. I also pulled a permit for puzzle lake the second week. I will pm you my #

It's full of gators. Hard lake to get.

Be care of the landing at SR 46 as there have been more than a few robberies at the location. Preston Sloan is a reliable processor. He's north of Hwy 44, just west of the river outside of Deland.
His # is 386-804-6758. You can drop 24/7 but make arrangements ahead of time.

Mind your P's & Q's as FWC watches the landing (not enough with the crime) and the lake as there have been many instances of some one floating a pile of unattended baits in the lake the last few seasons.

Great lake, I work that lake often. Cameron Wright boat ramp at St rd 46 is good. Going into the lake is very shallow, If your in a kicker boat be careful or you will be in the very water all the big boys are in pushing your boat. Sanford Ave also has a boat ramp that is very secluded to secluded my truck was broken into at 1;00 oclock in the afternoon. Stole everything. Even had FWC stickers on it. If the manager at Blackhammock can be forgiven for there actions when SCAC went on one of there rides it would be the best place. Joel told me he will put together a BBQ. And it is located on the lakes edge easy access for sure. I trap alot of Gators and that lake flips me out everytime we work it. It's full of monsters.

Thanks everybody for the information. Looks like Black Hammock is the best for me since I live south of there, closest one to me. Sounds like any place along the shore is good for gators, but will try the area on the south shore between Black Hammock and 46. I drew the 3rd hunt. Safe hunting everyone.

Concur with what everyone else said. The only comment would be that the lake can get rough. This gator was the second biggest gator killed on the lake last year. He was 12 9" (biggest was 12-10" per FWC).

gotta love them Muzzy Points coupled with a CFTH harpoon. It's not coming out without some work.

I have lots of faith in my points but on a big gator like that why not double up. It's amazing though from the time we harpooned him until we bangsticked him was about 10-15 min. Loading him in the boat to run back to the ramp was a whole different story though.

Yea ,listen to what all the ole timers are telling you about that lake and you should do fine. Take your time ,aim true, and stay safe. Good luck and make sure you post how you do. Later, Cajun

CTFH great gator, if I come close to one that size I may just watch him, my airboat is only just over 13'. Will run as much shallow water as possible, and run for cover is the weather acts up or the lake gets rough, can always hunt another day.
Cajun thanks, and I do pay attention and listen to the old timers, even if I am old and deaf myself. I will post photos and the tall tale of the hunt, hope all that have a successful hunt do to. Thanks all for the replies.

Not bad at all. Some of your writing is over-lapping and it can't be read. But them some decent lizards in the pics. Thanx, Cajun

Thanks for letting me know. We have made some adjustments. Hopefully it resolved the overlapping. We'll keep monitoring it.
