Florida’s fish and wildlife officials were more than a little surprised when alligator hunting permits sold out in four hours, spokesman Willie Puz says.

The quick sellout on June 15 left many recreational hunters without licenses while guides and commercial alligator processors snapped them up.

“Did we ultimately think alligator permits would sell out in a few hours when we haven’t sold them out for the past few years? We were pretty much amazed that that occurred, said Puz, who is with the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The News-Press reported Thursday that new rules and computer problems allowed commercial operators to scoop up permits before many recreational hunters could apply.

They can't do that because when all the manatees are gone than there will be no more no wake zones. Then what will the rich people do?

Good point, BadBilly .... actually, up here on the upper St. Johns our idle only zone is 500 YDS. from the shore in a lot of places, including right here
where I live on Drs. Lake. They haven't really been enforcing it so far because most of the CG, FWC and Sheriff's department folk realize
that a little common sense in any enforcement can go a long way.

Anybody got a really good recipe for 'sea cow' ?

We won't see a manatee season because the anti's have turned the seacows into people and FWC says the public would go into an uproar if sustainable use conservation was practiced on this one time human food source. I guess we need to educate folks that pigs & cows are cute too but also taste good.............

I'm sure the gator hunting equipment would work fine on a seacow. Could put all those fine bow pulpets to use....

It suprises me that the state officials regulating the gator hunt can hold a job that they apparently have no understanding of. All they had to do was ask one of us , and we would have told them it was going to be a fiasco. Was there any public input? Or is it a group that thinks they know what they think is best?

Got that right! Educated idiots!!!! The regular JOE has more brains than the high paid screw ups  WHATEVER MAN
