gearbox for a ford

scooter

I have a customer wanting to run a ford smallblock does anyone make a gear box for this motor ? it's a 331 stroker 302

Call GTO airboats. I think they have adapter plates for fords that will allow you to use a stinger or rotator gearbox.

You can get an adapter plate from the speed shops to put a powerglide behind almost any engine and then the boxes will bolt up to them.

The speed shops do sell the plates but you will have to cut it down yourself or buy it from GTO who will buy the plate and cut it down for you plus they sell the headers and anything else you might need (ford related) they use Stinger Boxes so if you use something different you will be on your own as I was putting a Rotator Gear Box on a 460ci. There is several thing you need to be aware of, but it can be done PM me and I will pass the info along... There also is a belt drive reduction unit that bolts direct to a ford "But it is a Belt" sorry to all the belt guys "ment no harm" Belt units are heavier than gear boxes and in my case the 460 is already heavier than the GM's so weight was a concern for me. anyway good luck

Scooter,

Saw a really nice GTO 460 Ford powered boat on our Salt Springs run last year. I think that Stan knows the gentleman with the white boat with the "wing" on the front, (used to control porpoiseing).

Can't remember if he had a gear of belt drive though?

thank's for the info everybody i had wondered about an adapter plate and if it would be strong enough with the flywheel spacer. i know there designed to work with torque converter's as in fluid coupling instead of solid mounting. just an f.y.i. we took this motor to work tonite and weighed it with alum. heads header's f.i. and alt. full of oil it weighed 461 lbs. and is said to put out 370 hp. and 355 ft. lbs. of torque should run pretty good i hope.
