Gigs

I have a 7'10" alum pole I was thinkin bout using as a gig pole. Is it long enough? Who makes good frog gigs and do you use the same gig for frogs and flounder? Thanks!

diamondback sells some nice fiberglass telescoping gig poles for frog gigging.
For fish you may want to use a stronger pole with a heavier gig.
I use a telescoping fiberglass/aluminum pole from home depot that is strong and lightweight for fish gigging.

I guess the lengh of your gig pole would depend on your setup.
seen some of them south Fl. boys that need a 12 footer just
to reach the water, ( and I kinda like that) but any longer than
you need would just make it harder to handle, I always liked
a bamboo cane pole, It had enough weight to be steady, and
will bend quite a bit before they break, and come right back
and the price beats the heck out of an aluminum pole.
Just some rambling thoughs, K.M.
PS These dang docters keep taking my airbaot money, and
pushing that farther back, so I've been contemplating
making me a little short stick gig, and trying to stick some frogs
off the front swivel seat on my little kickre boat, years ago
I remember sticking quite a few frogs out of the grass
along canal banks , I would most likely wear a mask so
I would'nt be recognised. But hey, a frog is a frog.
