Glen-l airboat

Hey Yall,
Been a long time since I last posted. Still out here on the Outer Banks and still wanting my own airboat. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with building and running the Glen-l wooden airboat. If so, could you please tell me what their pros and cons are. Thanks,

don't know shat about a wooden airboat, but IMOSO(in my own stupid opinion) they swithched to AL and fiberglass for a reason?

i have built one... not so satisfying

pros: cheap, VW engine is abundant, can esily be built by a carpenter.

cons: underpowered even with redrive , glassing the hull seems just like to hiding the wood, flexing is vey noticeable especially when you get to see the joints after several runs. rudder seems not well linked.

though overall, it's a great project and a good first boat. best ride should be solo.

btw, i can't recall that Glen L provided specifics on the engine, just on the mounting.

JMO on having one.
