GM's Hy-Wire

Thats a show called Top Gear that airs its shows on the BBC and I think The discovery channell is starting to brodcast it now. Very cool stuff most of the time its crazy lets see what's faster stuff and how much punishment will something take stuff. Saw them destroy a diesel toyota but the damn thing kept running. They wrecked it- burned it - hit it with a wrecking ball-sunk it in salt water and then set it on top of a building that was getting blown up and the DAMN TRUCK STILL RAN. Ifin ya get a chance to watch the show it's usually pretty cool.

Go GM..........

My first car is a GM 1968 Z/28,,,,,,,its in the garage now......

As a country we need to retake our leadership position in cars...dont get me wrong, my wife drives a Honda because i got tired of hearing about the funny noises, and "the car wont start"......lol

I hope GM can make this work.so we all can tell the arabs to keep there oil...........maybe they will use it to fuel the magic carpets
I would by one ..........
more money to buy a/v gas for my airboat....

That's the way I see it GSO480 .... find a genuine alternative to fossil fuel and then let those SOB's swim in it for a while. AV gas would be back down to a buck a gallon in no time.
It will take years longer than it should to make it happen because the oil companies are going to fight it every step of the way.

Iceland found a way to make hydrogen from sea water, and even set up the technology to make hydrogen fueling possible at their gas stations.
Guess what happened? The Saudi's cut the price they pay for crude oil.

Imagine that.

Saw a little clip of the up comming news the other day that gas prices are falling and may be down to $2.00 a gallon by Thanksgiving, Yeah I'll believe that when I see it :angryfire:

I watched that then I searched the Web on this Hy Wire thing. Seems only thing GM wants to talk about is the Fuel Cell technology and the motors, which is BS and last decade's technology. The REAL news here is the hydrogen generation at the point of use !

Not one place on line does GM do any more than give it a single line and nothing at all about the technology.

I can't wait til this gets out !

That's what caught my eye, Bear. Kinda like the guy who's pouring water in his welder to make hydrogen gas ...... 8) .

Olef Art

I did that thing 4-5 years ago before I came over here. Wasn't even sure I had a flame at first. Was fun though. I didn't but they say ya can even weld glass with them like that.

Ya know all through Africa ya never see compressed acetylene folks there just make a tank with a hose on it and a couple litres of water and drop rock carbide in and run iot right to their torches. Add Oxygen and tye weld all day for pennies.

Ya try that in the US and yer in trouble if your running a business.

Carbide was a revolution in lighting at the turn of the last century. As you know most of the first headlights on cars and motorcycles were nothing more than carbide lanterns with big reflectors. Even on RR steam engines.

Carbide gas was even piped into homes for lighting. Can you imagine what the EPA would say if you tried that again today ...... . Man, you talk abou going into a fizz !!

SAFARI RICK, gas prices in Des Moines are already down to 232.9 per gallon. Take away 18.4 federal tax and 21.3 Iowa tax and the total cost per gallon is 193.2.

The market place has spoken and people are just not driving as much.

Des, if it had continued the way it was going my wife and I had already discussed the fact that we could sell her car .... that my truck could do everything we needed to do including tow the the boat if we planned ahead a little.

Of course I'm retired so the two of us don't have to go in seperate directions every day anymore, but little things like a cell phone call on the way home to see if something is needed over at Publix, rather than another trip in another vehicle could save a ton of money in a year's time.

Now I am going to realy stir things up. I just got back from Venezuela yesterday from doing a job down there. I stopped to fill up the rental car. Put in right at 8 gal (32 liters) and it came out to just under $1.00 US. Someone is realy making money with the prices we are paying. I know the gas is local and everything but that is a BIG difference from us paying $3+ a gallon. By the way that was for the 95 octane not the 87 we have here.

Oh man, Bravo. Don't get me started. The chairman of Exxon-Mobil made something like $162 million dollars last year. And that was just his salary. Forget the stock they probably gave him too.

There are a lot of single moms in this country that could have used a little piece of that trying to pay for day care and still drive to work every day.

What has me thrilled is this new thing GM has is generating Hydrogen at the point of use. What that means is it can eliminate any infrastructure for distribution of fuel ! Thats like right along with the printing press, the steam engine, and likely apple pie !

Im scared for them though. If it gets out and the common man is able to duplicate this in his garage thats the end of the energy crisis. Uh oh, cant steal if we dont have anything to sell. Damn, now what.

This is the best thing to happen since I have been alive. We need to ride this news and keep it in the public view. Write congressmen and house committes, yeh even the pres, NEOCON that he is. We need everybody on board with this.
