Ok guys,guess it's time for a lesson on Gnats.!! Now I don't know what kind of "Nats" ya'll have down there but up here in South Ga. we have "GNATS" and man I mean GNATS.Now our Gnats come out in the morning about 9:00 and they don't leave at dusk.They hang around all day long and get in your eyes,ears nose and anywhere else they can get.Never heard of a Nat that does not come out until dusk,so ifen ya'll got them knocturnal nats just be glad they only come out at night and not get ya all day long.But if you have Gnats like we do then you need to put a Bounce drying sheet on your head ,under your hat,around your neck,in your shirt pocket or wherever you can put it and they don't like it.So we will be glad to "Exchange" your Nats for our Gnats any ole day.Guess I was bored and needed to give ya'll a lesson on Gnats just in case your wondering what the heck she is talking about.!! haha.We need another South Ga. Trip to get going on so ya'll can come see our Gnats'.!!! Carol
 
Ms. Carol, a buddy and I went fishin' up on Crooked River in GA one morning a couple of years ago, and we'd no sooner gotten baited up when those "GNATS" came in. Dang it !!

We took it for maybe 20 min. and then he looked at me and said, "You know, I ain't never been THIS hungry for fish." :lol:
We packed up and went to the house.

Yep know what cha mean Olf,but we have a cure for them those things when you really want some fish.We have a hat with a very fine net over it like you would use for hunting so to speak except the hat brim holds the net away from your face so you are not bothered with that touching you or we just use the ole Bounce dryer sheet and then when you sweat you smell just like you came outta the dryer.!!! More than one way to skin a cat as they say.But they are really bad in South Ga.but can't have it all I guess.Hope you are better since you busted your "Olf Art" fallen outta the boat.Watch your step better next time and you wouldn't have missed a good ride.But we'll do another one soon.Carol

Feared so Gator,but I don't think ya'll have them down there as bad as we do up here.Heck their so bad up here we REALLY have a festival call "Gnat Days" and that's no joke.!!
 
When I was a young'in my dad would take us to Bluegrass festivals on the Swanee River and I can remember how bad the gnats were up there, even from so long ago.
 
Carol,

We use to use Avon skin so Soft original formula. It worked on black gnats.
But you smelled pretty. Hard to explain to other hunters. I use thermacell if I'm sitting still. You can't Hunt turkeys in SE Georgia with out it.

Amen to that one!! I have used the Avon as well but trust me I do hunt turkeys up here and I DO have many thermacells.Don't know what makes that darn thing work and don't care but you are right about one thing you don't even think about hunting up here without one.First time I went (Din't have a clue what I was doing) But they said I needed to go anyway.So I went with a young fellow that taught me to hunt turkeys and he took me to a swamp and man do I mean a SWAMP and we sat down and I was covered and he was not even swatting at them skeeters and I said oh heck I can't do this and I am pretty patient but these things gonna eat all my skin off,he took that thing out and said in a min.those skeeters will be gone (yeah right), well darned if he wasn't right.So it's like your Master Card,never leave home without it.!! haha.
 
i use some skin so soft on a coon hunt years ago try explaining yhat to the little woman think she still thinks i was steppin out, nerver put that stuff on again :roll:
 
Thanks for the lesson on "GNATS" because sometimes I forget I'm just a dumb girl! And I just started airboatin' yesterday......... ..when I was born right here in Florida :wave:

Nuff said from, me, except I do know a good Avon rep if anyone wants to purchase some of that there skin so soft! I hear it gets rough on them Florida waters.......and johnny law loves that sweet smell, it draws him to finding them dang "GNATS."
