Got a question about porposing

First, this is my Grandpa's boat. 12' x7' fiberglass hull 307 olds, direct drive, 3/8" polymer. It is in my gallery. He has the prop almost even with the back of the boat and when he planes out, he starts porposing real bad. He is considering moving the engine, 6 to 7 inches forward. Is that too much? However, if you make someone sit on the front deck, all the way to the front, its runs alot better. What do yall think? Is that a good place to start? Thanks

Airag,

Several things can effect porpoising. Installing a trim tab is easiest. It might also be that the engine is not level or slightly pitched.

thanks guys for the replies. I think he will try to adjust the engine angle first, then maybe a trim tab....Thanks again, AirAg
