Basketcase

Basketcase ,

The weather is a hot 60.... :D My boat is 16.5 x7 with a 350 small block. If you ever get up this way drop me a line and I'll take you for a ride.

I use the top when I'm moose hunting , I have both a top and bottom steering station, That way when it raining I put the top up and away I go nice and dry.... :D

ok guys, I got a question for yall.

I been thinking about this for a LOT of years and never figured out a for real answer.

Can ya make a living running airboat tours? I was in Alaska back in '95 and fellin love with the place, but had to leave cause of family illnesses. I always said if I ever get back there I'll never leave again no matter what the reson.

I know its a big place and theres room for more tour operators.

My favorite time in Alaska is the winter but theres not many or ANY tourists there then. I saw a few folks out running snow plows clearing small roads and parking lots during the winter. I just figured most folks there have more then one job.

Do you run like 10w gear oil in your gearbox and 5w oil in the engine or do you just shut it down for the winter?

Whitebear , Yes you can make a living at it if you are in the right place and I was lucky enough to be in the right place , I deal only with the major cruise lines as I live by 2 of the biggest lodges in the state there are around 2200 people a day that come in and out of the lodges , And what help me is no one else can offer a tour to the lodges as I have a contract with them , I offer only to the lodges not so much to the public . plus we do the atv and argo tours also. It keeps us busy for the 4 months we are open , You are right about room for others this is a big state..I'm lucky because my tour operation is outside of the National park (Denali) and airboat are not aloud to run inside of the parks

You are right not to many tourist here in the winter but we do offer snowmachine tours ,I fog the engines on the boats and park them till spring.....Thats when I come to Florida........ :D

Tim,
cool site did you do it ? We want to start offering a more back country tour ..But we need a web site first .The Cruise line does all our advertising so it saves us $$$$$$$.

Everbody take care and have a good summer our tour season starts Friday thats when the first cruise ship gets here. I'll drop in every now and then.

And if anyone is going to be in Alaska drop me a email

Maybe Ill fly up and make the early 2007 season. Id like the be the first or the last of the season. I gotta be careful though, Alaska is more addicting than Florida OR AIRBOATS ! Some may think I'm kidding but I'm not.

DO your lodges have a web page? I could book through them.

Scotty

Scotty ,

They do just go to Princess McKinley lodge ....But if you are coming drop me an email I get you on for free , After all I'm the owner...... :D ,We close Sept. 15 as thats when Moose, Caribou and sheep hunting opens have to get my priorities straight...Money or food for the winter... :D Come up towards end of Aug. great salmon fishing.

You are right Alaska is addicting , we came up here twice on vacation and never left and I'm from S.C

Oh Man, you guys are killin' me ....... that sounds so fine. Always wanted to catch a salmon.

Feather, lets see about both us going up. If we book late and go salmon fishing, maybe we can forget where the truck keys are and bag a moose before we find them.

This IS the stuff dreams are made of !

Scotty

Ok I'll rub it in a little our king salmon start showing up here in the river this weekend. After I'm all tourist out by the end of the season this is what I have to look foward to.......I'm a meat hunter after all no matter how long you boil 60 inch moose antlers they still taste the same....... :D
