Got my first Airboat today

First of all I would like to say howdy to yall. Got my first boat today. Its an 06 airboat pro Invasion 138 with a little 4.3 GMC engine. Figured that I'd start off easy. Had it out on the river today and it rocks. Wanted an airboat ever since I was a kid . More fun then anything I have driven except maybe the Harley. Great site to hang out and pick up some useful info.....Best regards.....HT

welcome aboard, chuck is a good guy got my boat from him when he owned half of rivermaster with janette treeted me good when tracy was trying to nickle and dime me to death.not to lecture you but if you dont have much seat time be cautious of your driving ability till you get used to your boat and have fun.

Always glad to hear about another new airboater, your gonna love it. Did you get the v6 that is a direct drive or with a reduction unit? I would like to know how that setup runs, I have ben running an inline 6 chevy for 16 years and have had thoughts of a geared inline 6 before. Well welcome to the club and looking fowards to talking with you.

Larry

Hi Larry: In regard to your question it is a direct drive setup with a 68" wood prop. The boat should do about 40mph flat out. Chuck says that I can go to the reduction drive and composite prop later. I guess I will leave it as is until I get some more driving experience. Then who knows what. That 383 small block sure has my attention........HT

Herr, Take it slow and easy at first and as soon as you start to get that "I got this thing mastered feeling watch out that's when I sunk mine" don't fear it just respect it. Wealth of information and good people on this site. Good luck and stay safe.

Herr, I saw your boat at the shop and was there when they put the prop on... Damn nice boat!!

Someday, I would like to have one like that. Congrats...

Howdy: I'de like to again thank all of you guys who offered words of encouragement. This is a new experience for me but sure seems to be a lot of fun. I'm going to go low and slow until I get the hang of it. Been riding a Hog for 40+ years and still alive. You gotta know when to back off. Got a bad vibe between 1200 and 1500 RPM so no more running until the new prop comes in. Chuck says that it probably warped while in storage. Hope to "pardon the pun" run into some of you on the water.Best regards...........HT

Hey Gator: I looked into joining CCAA and want to do it. I believe that I need to be sponsered by a current member and I don't know anyone that could help me out. I have been reading some things about people coming down here and trying to get rid of the Airboats. I believe that a strong alliance among owners/users is necessary to keep the lawmakers in our corner. I will join any group that will protect our rights. I didn't wait all this time to finally get a boat only to have some darn fool tell me I can't use it because it is too noisy. .............Regards.....HT.
