got to take the new mini for a ride

This is the hull that I'm using. Its 12x7 It is a very light boat for it size. the engine is a kawasaki 440 making around 40hp with a 2.5to1 reduction the prop is a warp drive 66" 4 blade. I will be posting more pic as I get work done.

well I got the engine mount and running. but I rechecked my reduction again and it only 2:1 not the 2.6:1 I was told by the guy I got the engine from. I put the prop on at 66 1/2 but it would not spin it up past 3000rpms set at 3deg so i cut the prop down to 57 1/2 and removed 2 of the 4 blades and set it at 12deg. the engine spins up fast and will spin the prop up to 3200rpms. it would have went up higher but I let off the gas. I'm going to add more pitch to see how it works or I may put the other 2 blades back on. I will get some pics up soon.
 
yeah the guy I got it from said he had it made for racing. the boat is very lite I would say about 200lbs or less
 
Those Kawasaki 440 engines are very reliable I had one for years in a Airplane never had a problem all I ever had to do to it was change the plugs one in a while and put gas in it, they are awesome engines
 
this engine came out of a airplane also. The guy I got it from said it had 8hrs on it.I put some gas in it hit the starter and it fired right up.I will try to get pics up tonight
 
I'M FLYING HOME TODAY SO I WILL BE WORKING ON MY MINI THE REST OF THE WEEK I HOPE.I HAVE ORDERED THE PARTS THAT I NEED FOR IT.I ALSO GOT A NEW PULLEY TO MAKE MY REDRIVE A 2.6:1 WILL POST PICS WHEN I GET HOME
 
the redrive is a az airsport inc redrive. they stoped making them back in 1983 from what i have been told by the guy ay j bird engines. if you are looking for a redrive j bird engines has alot of them new,used,and rebuild. there # is 262 626 2611 they sell the same engine that i have, but if you take your time you can find one on ebay cheaper
 
Josh, ya makin me hungry. Your gonna get yours in the water pretty soon it looks like. Gold had to locate a mag for mine and should be smelling some smoke pretty soon. Weve had a couple of small set backs, like health issues at both ends. If Gold gets thru with mine, I will have to try to get him to meet me part ways, I'm not able to drive to long, I cannot hold my &^%$# head straight for long period of time, it makes the disc pinch the nerve in my neck more and I lose strength and man what pain down my arm. But when the time comes we will get the boat moved back here. Good luck with yours and keep us posted. Get some pics too. Later, cajun
 
hey cajun if you don't mind me asking where are you located. Maybe when we get are boats done we could meet up and go for a ride. I hope to have mine in the water in the next few days. :D

The only place I know to ride around here are the gulf flats. Thats where I am gonna mainly use mine. I'd love to see how yours runs when you get thru with it. Let me know. Do you have anyway of taking a moving video of it running?Are you gonna take a GPS with your run to see how fast you go?Be Safe, Cajun
 
yes I have away to take video and my brother has a gps. I'm working on the steering now and running some wires. I'm not to sure if I want to go with a bell crank or a cable set up. I think I can make the bell crank cheaper then the cable set up. I would like to go with the cable but funds are tight right now with xmas. Does any one have a good pic of a bell and crank set up? thanks josh
 
I got the steering all done today. I went with a cable set up like on cajuns boat. I may put it in the water and take it for a test drive tomorrow. The exhaust thats on it now is just a 3ft peace of 2 1/4 pipe and its very loud. I have exhaust coming in the mall I hope it will be here in the next 2 days.
