GPS Antenna Location

I’m curious to know if anyone has recommendations for ideal puck locations on airboats? Although we’ve been fishing and hunting our whole life, my brother and I are new to the airboat world, including this forum, and glad to finally be here after riding on them here and there! We bought a used 20’ Pathmaker end of last year, stripped it down to the hull and completely rigged it out for bowfishing. We’re wrapping up a few things to finalize it all and I’m wanting to mount the antenna puck on either the top of the cage, or on the catwalk we added on near the transom. I know gps mfg’s Say to make sure it has a clear line of sight to the sky, but I’m curious if anyone has ever had an issue with the cage jamming the signal for those who have mounted it down low? Thanks in advance. Really looking forward to the years to come on the water with an airboat. I’ll try to post some pictures I took throughout the build. Also, if anyone has any do’s or don’ts I’m all ears.

We have a sight platform up on top of cage, and had planned on putting it on there somewhere, just wanted to see if others had a more ideal place.

You can put it just about anywhere that it has a reasonable view of the sky, up high or down low. It does not matter if the cage is shadowing part of the view of the sky, it will not impact signal reception. You can even mount it under fiberglass if you have to. Just don't shield it directly under a large piece of metal or conductive materials like Kevlar.

Mount it just behind the platform and just below the top so the platform protects it from tree limbs etc.

Thank y’all. Will be going up top on the platform like we originally planned. The platform is slightly lower than the top of cage, so it should’nt be too vulnerable to getting damaged by anything.
