if all gos well im gonna do a 520 and cam converion on a pe 90 engine or should i say have it done, id like to here from some of those that have done this what to expect perfomance wise also fuel economy differance, if your happy or not and also durability issues if any , thanks

my bulider says he can do that easy im thinkin it woud be good engine if i keep the compression on the lower side the new boat i have does good stock i just need more pitch for a good cruse and when the poly heats up im thinkin 50 more horses will be just what the boat needs

i know theres not a lot of these moters out there so id like to hear from the 6cyl gpu guys about the before an after of there conversions

I don't have any experience with the 520 conversion, but I hear that's the way to go.. I wish I would of bit the bullet and went with the 520 conversion, they say 180 hp on the 4cyl. is gravy. sounds like your liking those 4cylinders :D

You should talk to my father in law. In my humble opinion his is about the nastiest PE-90 conversion that I've seen. He had it at the races this past weekend, an old, white Kennedy hull, GTSIO heads with fuel injection. He's done all sorts of stuff to that thing.

More power, More power That's what everyone wants these days. There's one thing for sure ...You will be replacing the weak link in your engine..That being the cylinders
Yeah you know I'm going to talk good about the aircraft conversion :D

plum you should expect more then 180 out of a 520

go 520 cylinder, get some dome 520 pistons get the case decked at the same time you bore it then you'll have a plumcrazy boat :D

more power doesn't always help fuel economy

How many cubes will you get using the 520 cylinders?

520/6= 86.6
86.6*4= 346.6

266/6= 43.3
43.3*4= 173.3

I know there's a bit more to it than simple math, but that should be at least ball park on stock components....right?

hadnt thought to much about it but that sounds about right, we will have to ask speed, hes gonna hook me up

You can get even more displacement than 346 out of it, depending on how motivated ya' are.( and as long as you don't mind desecrating it with Lycoming parts)

no lycombing , what im really looking for is some statement of people that have drivin a gpu then conversion what was the differance ,cruse ground runnin pich added to prop etc.

Smart person once told me "you can burn a lot of gas with a 6 cylinder, or you can burn a lot of gas in one spot with a 4 cylinder" :D
