GPU Nuts / Bolts

All original nuts and bolts should be standard not metric right? My bolt for the alternator brace came out of the case and the only thing that I can find with a thread that is close is metric. I'm wondering if someone has re-tapped it or something.

Yes, everything is American Standard threads. Metric is for the French and gays.

You may have an AN Standard bolt there, but I don't know why it would be. I'd chase the hole with a tap and use a slightly larger SAE bolt.

Wasn't there some GPU's made in Canada,If so some might be metric.

A 1/2-13 won't thread, 12-1.75 will thread but seems sloppy. I wonder if the hole has been deformed. When I line up the new 1/2 -13 with the existing bolt the threads don't mesh the metric is closer.

I think I will re-tap it.

From the back, facing the prop the bolt is behind the flywheel upper left end of the case.
