Grass rake

Well-known member
I bought a new Diamondback 18 by 8 and the local dealer installed the grass rake here in Texas, The rake is bolted to the top deck on the bow, But is not welded to the bow where it meets the hull on the front of the hull. Should I tac it in a few spots or weld it completly or just rely on the four bolts to hold it. Thanks.. Scott

Hey Loco I have an 18x8 diamondback with a grass rake from diamondback. It is only bolted on and does a fine job. Hope that helps.

I run a solid grass rake that is just held on with self tapping srews and people jump up and down on it yours should be fine, its just for laying down brush its not a cow catcher, although many people use them to flatten game. You should be fine.

Loco, if you ever bend it up and need to straighten it you'll be glad it's bolted on. Just take it off, fix it, put it back on.

I have a 14X7 1/2 and I do Search&Rescue and my grass rake it bolted on and I have never had a problem and I agree bolting is much better than welding when it comes to something that might need to be repaired.

hey loco, i have an air ranger with a solid rake. it has four bolts on the deck and also has bolts on the underside. keeps it from pulling off the bottom or bending in case it slides back on something like a dock or a hard bank.....just food for thought.

Excactly my buddys new air ranger is bolted on the top deck and also to the front of the hull, Seems like if you came down hard on the front of the rake(like a hard bank, excactly) 4 bolts may not be enough. The air rangers rake looks pretty bulletproff. My last boat had no rake but I got a little spooked when seeing the boats sitting side by side and his rake is attatched like a tank. Thanks for all the info.. Do yall think a three man low seat with powder coat stainless seat stand for $1500(mfgr cost) is a little high. was think of adding an extra seat in my boat.

freakin A thats high!!! go check on classsicairboats.com and that will give you a better idea of a good price.

Faron, I've never been one to say your prices are too high. Quality has a fair price. If you can't afford the best then you have to be willing to settle for second best ...... simple as that.

Thanks Olf Art.

Sometime my prices are a little higher but the quality remains long after the price is forgotten.

We can't make everyone happy but I try hard to do my best.
