Gso 480 gear box rebuild

Anybody have link to a rebuild kit, phone number to anyone I can get parts from or ship to have it rebuilt? Thinking our box needs bearings but kinda afraid of tearing it apart without a little rebuild kit in hand. It's starting to leak fluid and starter is dragging every other time we go to start. Found a break down and parts list but hate to get into and not have what all I need to put back together.

Got ahold of him today ! Thanks for the details ! Anyone know what he meant when asking if it had been welded on before ? I didn't have a clue what he meant and can one tell without pull gearbox and disassembling?

Trying not to give up on this rebuild ! We've got a spanner nut we cannot get loose right above the flange. Thinking all we need is a new thrust bearing and seal that's right under top flange. Spent more time building tools to hold onto some of this than actually taking apart. I'll try to keep the pics coming incase it could help someone later. I hate to spend 3k when doesn't seem like more than 150$ worth of parts.

Don't yah hate when a flat punch and big ball peen hammer ain't enough:p

Looks like you are on the right path. I recommend a 10-foot pipe for this one.

Here is one of my first custom tools I built when I turned 16. I still use it regular like.

You are turning it the right way is it a left thread or a right thread?

Can you do me a favor and post a pic of the end of the crank were the gear box slides in. I have a Vo 540 the block it is made to accept a Transmission same pattern a gear box, but the crank has a plug in it. I wonder if there a bushing in the end or what? I would like to put a gear box on it.
