Headlamps

What all are people using for headlamps nowadays? I have not yet evolved into LED headlamps so I may be a little behind the times... any suggestions are very much appreciated.

What are you looking to use the lamp for? I like my LED for Slidin and navigating, but prefer my halogen with dimmer for gator hunting and frogging. Even if dimmed, the LED stays white vs. orange with a halogen.

Mostly hunting. Saw some one frogging the other night with a head beam that projected what looked like a quarter mile. I'm guessing halogen.

Looking for brands to price out. Was hoping someone on here made them.

I’ve used both led and halogen but I prefer the halogen for the main reason of frog huntin plus we’ve always built our own lights

Gator Pro is a good source for Halogen light setups, I like the 50 watt spot beam with dimmer for froggin.

As for LED headlamps, this thread covers one option:

You can also look at converting one of the many rechargeable LED headlamps on the market these days. The higher the Lumens, the brighter they will be. This one is rated at 20,000 Lumens, which should be very bright.

The units usually operate at 7.4-8.2 Volts. You can modify them to run off your 12 volt boat power by using a Buck converter to lower the voltage.
