Heads up on Phillips X/C Avaition oil

Went on-line to order a couple cases of 20W50 oil, order went in without any glitches, paid by CC and on the final page (that you can print for a reciept) it said "Your fulfillment center is Ascent Avaition in Parrish, NY".
Now this is cool, because they're only 30 miles from my house and I used to work for one of owners other companys :D
So I called and they cancled my on-line order (saving me ~$17. in shipping) hopped in the Jeep and drove down, picked it up and it was even less than on the Web site! :D
On-line the X/C 20W50 is "on sale" and is much more resionable than AeroShell.
Two case of gallons (4 per case) totaled $40. out the door.
Bottom line is this: If you search the Phillips/Conoco Avaition web-site for local dealers/distributors it may be a better deal than ordering on-line, as that's where the oil is going to be shipped from anyways...even if you have to add sales tax, it's still less than paying shipping. YMMV 8)

Do I understand you right : 2 cases ( 4 gallons per case) = 8 gallons of oil for $40.00?
Oops, my bad. It was $40 per case of four gallons. My original "on-line" order was for two cases becasue it was only a few more dollars to ship two as opposed to one case.

Here in southern illinois i paid 4.70 a quart for aeroshell 15w50 with no discount for a case so i paid almost 70 bucks with an oil filter and that was with no shipping charges, i picked it up

how does that oil compare to 100 wt aero shell
100W is equal to sae 50wt.
The nice thing about the 20W50 is the temp variable: Up here there's a wide tempature spread to deal with, especially between September and April. 8)
Multi weight has been approved for all AC engines.

The local FBO wanted a fortune for AeroShell, something like $7.xx a quart! Screw that, Synthetic isn't even that expensive.

ptr34,
Phillips is as good as Shell. I have been using it in my 0520 for a while. I get it in Ocala at the Delco dealer and it is way cheaper than Shell. For 50wt I was paying about $34.00 a case. I was needing to get some more when I won the case of Shell at one of the KRVSA meetings recently.

I have used the Phillips 20 50 wt during the winter for years & the straight wt Aero shell 100W 50 wt durning the summer, in my 0540 Lyc.
