HEI on A/C engine

I have a friend that works on a/c engines.I told him I was looking at a A/C engine boat. He told me theres a way to put a Chevy hei disturber on it. Do any of you guy run your A/C engine that way. He said it much cheaper then the mags

they run off the tack drive do a search I think waterthunder and a few other posted picture in a post about a year ago an described who to do it.
price s a benefit but it's not like dual impulse mags

I seen a IO-520 with GM COIL packs mounted on top of the block .
I could'nt even tell ya how he set that up as for getting the timing right .
I love the idea , but with fuel injection there has to be some type of control module to manage fuel and spark....I'll stick to carbs and mags.

The owner had no regrets with the setup.
