Heim joints??

Can anyone direct me to good heim joints at a fair price? I need several. Also need a replacement steering cable in the Tampa area.

I got my cable at diamondback and the hiem joints. the cable was around a hundred and the hiem joints were $11.00 so. It is by far way smoother than anyone else's that i have tried.

Big Daddy, Grant turned me on to Grainger. Look under linkage rod ends.

If you dont feel you need the precision of helicopter control fittings, you can get a similar joint at ACE Hardware. They are tierod ends for riding lawnmowers and cost maybe half the price quoted above. Your still going to have to find your source for the cable though.

I get mine from Richard in Lake Hamilton. I think i got them for around 9 bucks last time i bought some.

Try Fleet Products in Lakeland, they have the able and ends. They use them on big trucks and equipment.

If you only want to do this job once I would suggest you pay a little more and get stainless steel heim with the grease fittings. they will cost you about 5-6 dollars more but they will last 5 times as long.

Still don't have a definitive source for SS hieme joints...although Chris Chardt at Dakota thinks he has a line on them...Graingers' have about 1/2 the collar thickness of the ones that are on the original rudder rigging and they are ferrous metal...I really appreciate all the tips, Folks.

Try "Mcmaster-Carr" they have everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We bought alot of our parts off of Granger until we found Mcmaster. They are virtually the same products at a much cheaper price. If it isnt in that catalog...you dont need it!!!

I have purchased from this place. You can get a center rod at whatever length you need and have a complete assembly. I used this setup on my one boat and it is still working fine.

Check at Napa auto parts as well they carry SS heim joints as well for steering cable closest I know is Jurnigans or Lil John he built my last cable smoothest I have ever had

Was at Jurnigan's yesterday...Steve figured out how the old one was put together and Dudley the Fabricator was close enought to be roped in to do the welding fab...it was a Twins thing....he was powerless to resist.

Got the Teleflex cable from Mahoneys in Tampa and just ordered the hieme joints from Midwest Control Products...Deepsea Diver found it...

Eatin' this elephant one bite at a time.
