Helicopter motor?

when i asked about the franklin motors to a buddy awhile back,he told me they ain't worth messing with .he told me that he hasn't seen them for a while, plus parts are hard to come by. my friend still bought the boat about a year ago, and still don't have it going because of lack of parts.

Franklin has a website that is current with a contact # in colorado. They have a good power to weight ratio. The 220 hp 6 cyl is around the same weight as an 0360 4 cyl.
here is a link to their site: http://www.franklinengines.com

putting a frank motor on your boat would be like a car with holes cut in the floor board like the flintstone they are not so good + parts are expesive hard to find and if u no of a boat that will run dry loaded buy it cause they got lucky

Franklin is one of the most precision of all recip aircraft motors. Havent seen any here for a few years but they run great are light wight and smooth as silk.

Used to be in very high demand here in the 60-70s but most of the folks who wanted and ran them are now old and dont even run boats anymore.

I nave never seen anything negative about them. Just kind of a rare bird these days.

Answer to your question is they make a great airboat engine and it certainly is worth messing with if ya get a good price on it.

Scotty

when I was in my teens (I am 61 now)
the stone mountain auto museum owned back then by Tommy Protsman, he bought
a 1948 Tucker and it is still there..
My dad got involved because it had a 1936 cord transmission..my dad owned a cord
and was familiar with the electro vacuum shift..

after all the intro.. the Franklin water jacketed flat 6 was a real slick running engine
did not get to ride in it but I remember how it sounded and was very impressive
that was around 1963 or so.. time does fly!!
