need help guys,
2 wknds ago at airboat races in inverness hit a rockand it cracked the hull and made the polymer pull from the hull on the front left and dead center rear. the blow appeared to make it(poly) look as if it shifted back when it hit cause the affected screw were angled that direction. had the crack repaired looks new. crack was on inside but not all the way through. after crack was repaired had bolts put back in around the outter perimeter.
took out for first run and it now ride like a bucking horse. you can get it up on plane driving normal and accelerate and run wide open and no problem. if ya accelerate hard itll jump on plane but then it feels like ya hit a log then starts bucking. let off the gas and smoothes out. before rock incident none of these ride issues. can the poly be shifted just a hair and causing this. had guy drive it and he said front is digging and need to shim motor up. it did plow a little before but now it seems worse and the bucking will scare the shit out of ya. any suggestion are greatly appreciated. scott

When I put poly on mine it rode on the nose a friend told me to run it on asphalt.I thought he was crazy but tried it anyway. It worked great.Your poly might have a hook in it now and that might take it out.

ive been i n a boat or 2 that porpoises, mineis more radical than that. it lunges out like ya hit a log then it grabsand goes down then it lunges again. different than any porpoising boat ive been in

I had a similar problem once in a 10 foot Gilileo with slick bottom. I think I went across a log and it started to occasionally nose dive on me but usually only in the shallows and not all the time. I finally got underneath and found a little bit of fiberglass at the stern on the bottom that was getting into the water stream and acted like a speed brake. It was only two inches by two inches but what an effect it had on the boat. Who ever put the slick bottom on tried to fill in a low spot by adding a piece of fiberglass. I ground it off and the boat was fine.

Perhaps you have a spot that at certain times is coming loose just enough to let water get between the poly and the boat and causing a similar problem. Let us know what you find out.

just got done mowing the grass and noticed water still dripping from boat. hull is dry its coming from between the the poly n hull. i had 6-8 screw holes leaking pretty good, so im gonna put bolts in them see if it helps, wondering if its getting water in that spot and causing akind of bubble spot to arrise?

Sounds like it is hydraulicking separating and changing shape. What do you guys think? Could get real fun if it comes loose :( Getter buttoned up.

just re-polied a glass boat not long ago,and yes it is developing a bubble.which will cause porpoising , same prob we had . changed poly and cured the problem.

if its causing a bubble it can also be causing a roller coaster ride might end up changing ends with ya if you dont get it fixed
