Hey Duck Hunters

I am a new duck hunter. I am planning on painting my airboat camo for duck hunting. I was wondering if most of you guys hunt right from your boat and what kind of blind you use on the boat? and how camo it has to be? (motor-prop-everything?). I am also having trouble hitting those darn things , any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks

I put two camo nets over my boat, one over the cage and one to cover the bow/stand. I've hunted sitting in the boat with the net over it, but it's so high, I think you're still pretty visible. This year, I'll probably hunt in a portable blind and just count on the boat to get me where I need to go.

As for hitting them wait until the last possible second before they land. If they're passing, lead them, swing and follow through.

BoHawg,

You would be better off parking your boat about 50-100 yards away in some cover and hunt from a stick up blind made of what ever the terrain is made up of. That's what we do down here in S.E. Texas and S.W. Louisiana. Just my opinion.

I have enjoyed outstanding success hunting from my airboat here in Central Florida.

I set my decoys out about 20 to 30 yards from the grass then climb up on the grass and pull out to the edge about 5 feet or so inside the grass. The grass is 6-10 feet tall and makes an instant blind for the most part.

I then use utility clamps to clamp Palm Frons on the rigging and cage, it takes about 15 or so to do it right and once cut, they last several weeks.

I then spread some sheets that I dyed brown and green on the bottom of the boat and it works wonders. Only the back of the boat is exposed but that has not seemed to matter.

Camo is important... but lack of movement is MOST IMPORTANT.

Down here in Fla. Dove season starts about two months
before Duck season. After getting warmed up on them
doves shooting ducks is like shooting hot air ballons.
No not really but it helps. Remember ya got to lead em
shoot over em coming straight in, shoot under em going
straight out, and only practice will get you on the money.
