I just statred running one of my trail dogs with a full vest after spending a few hundred the week before when she caught up to the pig. She learned to try and catch from her daddy that did catch several pigs throughout the years i ran him. When she is on the trail, i would have to have an anchor attached to her a$$ to slow her down. Doesn't care for the vest while we're runnin but drop her down when she winds and the story changes. Last week was the last weekend for us until next year but as fate would have it they caught up to a 350- 400 lb. boar with 3 1/2-4" cutters. My other girl with no vest suffered two 6" cuts. One under the front left leg and one up in front of the left rear leg. She does not try and catch but was a victim of several charges by the pig when it was bayed up. I tracked the hounds during the chase and when we pulled up about 25 yds, we had a great view of what was goin on. Bill was 778.00 this time for her. She also will have a vest next year. The one with the vest was lucky. The cutter penetrated the vest, entered the skin and exited about 4" above the entrance wound. NO damage except two small 1/2 holes. The vest saved her from what i consider a very, very large wound that may have killed her. The vest consists of two layers of 1350 ballistic material with a liner between them. Cost 65.00 plus freight. As far as Jake is concerned, he is too unreliable. Nice guy but just can't rely on him. I want service when i want it. Not when the vendor wants to provide it. Course, this is my opinion. May not line up with brydogs opinion.
