How far would you drive

Hello, I wanted to put this out to kinda get a idea of what is realistic for driving to work.

How far would you drive to work round trip for 11.00 to 12.00 dollars an hour?

Thanks,
Gary :old_glory:

My truck gets 14mpg, gas is $2.50 gallon so if it was me I would say for a full shift a reasonable distance would be 10-15 miles and 20 minutes one way. That said if the job was something I really loved or if I could not find other employment and needed to have an income source I would go further maybe 25 miles.

I hate to sound like a azz but I'm with Coastslider, I drive 104 round trip. I'm a lineman and I roll in a diesel Jetta. 45 mpg

How bad you need money? You going to sit at home on your backside and sponge off the government? Or maybe Mommy and daddy. What are the chances of advancement at the 10 or 11 dollar job. Maybe you can drive to a trade school or maybe college. All the trade unions are looking for people who are not afraid to work and can grasp a trade. But you might have to start at 10 or 11 dollars.
And as far as how far would I drive, as far as I had too. I was driving 35 miles one way in 1974 for $3.55 a hour. And stayed with the system for 38 years. I made some good increases over the years though.

Really depends how bad you need money. As a first job to get in the door I see that being a decent wage as long as they dont stay at that wage long depending on their performance. Now an experienced adult with work ethic and clean driving/criminal records that pay better be increased substantially in order make a living and to retain that worker. X3 I personally wouldn't get outta bed for that wage but it just depends where your at in life.

drove 210 miles round trip for a year and told the boss the next project needs to be closer to home or I wont be on it. I would not do that again. 25 miles to work now but since I have to get on i4 thats an hour drive!
