How to take off belt reduction unit???

what are the ins and outs to removing and then replacing a 2:1 belt reduction unit? Are there any things to watch out for? How do you put it back together properly?

Thanks.

Is it a Franklin CH-2 or CH-3 or one of the other makes. I am familiar with only the Franklins.

Nothing worrysome except to remember to support the engine before ya take out the rear mount bolts. You might find a SHORT handle socket wrench easier to use inside the housing. It is really strait forward asembly and disasembly. I think they have some blowup diagrams available on their web site.

Might be good to have a second person around to help hold things as they come off.

I haven't decided on which engine to use yet...I am going to pull mine and examine it...Might rebuild it....I am not so sure I got an extra $10,000 around with the new kid coming in a few weeks...but I do want one of those 6.0L motors....I am in no hurry to do the belt drive...just working it into the schedule...I would appreciate the help...

If you decide to rebuild your engine I hope you have better luck with the Anchorage shops than I did.

If you need new heads, I've got pair of sb 350 with maybe 10 hours on them.

There you go, Cold. Sounds like they need a good engineman in Anchorage.

You obviously know you stuff with engines ..... here's your second career. :)

Not easy to find a good shop anywhere! I worked in Yellowknife for a while. It was kind of a novelty for the sun to not go down, but that was summer! We get sun in the winter here in Edmonton  Well I guess I should go shovel some snow!

A man that knows engines is worth every penny he makes.
It's kinda like bein a surgeon, but with a torque wrench instead of a scalpel.

Not everybody can do it. When you can it's worth good money.

If you are going to rebuild your motor I would talk to Dave in at Anchorage dragbike and performance . He has built several motors for me over the years and my experiance w/ him has been nothing but good .

Not sure if you have my number or not , but you can pm me or give me a jingle if you need a hand .

make sure when you install the lower bearing at the flywheel not to put presure on the crank!!!!it should bolt up flush to flywheel with out pulling or pushing on flywheel /crank it will dmage the mains and blow the motor!!
