Hull Size ?

Airhead

In general what will the effect be of shortening a hull by 1 foot and widening the bottom by 1 foot?

Facts: Currently running a small aircraft engine on a 13'6" hull that's 5' wide at the bottom. I think I can improve performance by switching to a 12'6" hull that has a 6' bottom. I'm hopeing for quicker planeing and increased top end speed with a load.

Any thoughts?

In a application with limited horsepower and no interest in racing that's the way to go and it will do exactly what you want but if your making serious ponies or going real fast you will end up in the air and out of the water.

You pretty much nailed it as far as limited horses. Is it possible for you to speculate on the potential increased efficiency with all other things being equal and just changing out the hull. Just a ball park.
