I was looking at buying a used Q Series off the trader, but I couldn't pin the guy down about when I could come get it. It was as if he didn't want to sell the thing. I just decided to buy a new one. Bruce in Eureka had a 72" in stock so I went and got it.
I put it on today and set it on 1-1/2. I am turning it 3,050 wide open. It seems to have as much push as the one I tried on 2 the other week, but just more RPM and a lot more snap.
The slight vibration that I experienced on the other prop also doesn't seem to be present. Sensenich recommends indexing the hub on the engine if vibration is experienced, so maybe I just got real lucky on the first try, or maybe I got it tracked better. While the engine is idling, you can see the two pitch setting stickers and there is NO movement...one sticker tracks EXACTLY where the other sticker does. I thought that was kinda neat.
My boat runs dry ground now far better than before. I can stop on dry ground, and take off again at around 2500 RPM. It even goes UP HILL just as easy.
The boat will stay on plane in deep water at 16 to 1700 RPM and I am still amazed at how quiet these things are.
I'll say it again, if you are running a direct drive whether auto or air cooled, you need one of these propellers!. I feel like it is worth every penny.
