MAN I GOT MY MOTOR DONE SITTING IN THE GARAGE MOCKIN ME EVERYTIME I WALK OUT THERE .....LOL.... I GOT TO GET A HULL UNDER HER !!! I WAS GONNA BUILD ANOTHER PALMBEACH FULLDECK OR GET WITH MY BOY AL AND BUILD A FULLDECK WITH HIM BUT I JUST DONT HAVE THE TIME RIGHT NOW WITH WORK TO EVEN THINK ABOUT STARTING ANOTHER HULL PROJECT IT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE MONTHS EASY AS BUSY AS EVERYONE IS RIGHT NOW..

SO I DONE MADE UP MY MIND IM COMING UP TO DIAMONDBACK OR GTO OR HAMMENT THE 1ST WEEKEND OF OCT..AND BUYING A HULL ALREADY DONE OR HAVE THEM BUILD ME ONE QUICK LIKE SO I CAN MOUNT MY MOTOR AND BUILD MY RIGGIN AND GET MY ASS BACK SLIDE'IN AND GLIDE 'IN AND NOT MISS HUNTIN SEASON !!!

THE LAST BOAT I HAD WAS A DIAMONDBACK 13 X7"6 , IT WAS WIDER THEN WHAT I WANTED BUT I WENT UP THERE IN A HURRY JUST LIKE I AM NOW AND BOBBY HAD IT ALREADY DONE READY TO LEAVE THAT DAY AND GIVE ME A (HELL OF A DEAL ON IT ) SO I RAN WITH IT .. IT WAS GREAT IN THE WATER AND RODE GREAT BUT IT WAS LACKING BIG TIME ON THE DRY FROM WHAT I WAS USED TO WITH THE PALMBEACH HULLS.. IT JUST SEEMED LIKE ON THE DRY THE NOSE WANTED TO PLOW DOWN 1ST BEFORE IT WOULD BRAKE AND GO.. I THINK A 12 X 7 OR A 13 X 7 WITH A OPEN FRONT BULK HEAD INSTEAD OF SOLID BULK HEAD AND GO BACK TO A PIPE GRASS RAKE WOULD LIGHTEN THAT NOSE UP AND HELP HER RUN A LIL BETTER ON THE DRY .. I REALLY LIKE BOBBY AND FRAN AND APPRECIATE THE WAY THEY TOOK CARE OF ME ON MY LAST BOAT..

I THOUGHT I WOULD ASK SOME OF YOU GUY'S THAT ARE FROM THAT AREA AND OWNED OR RUN ON BOTH DB'S AND GTO'S FOR YOUR OPINIONS ON THE TWO.....THE LAST I CAN REMEMBER TALKING WITH BOBBY THE 12 X 7 ULTRA LIGHTS WERE $2160 AND AROUND $500 TO BUY AND RIVET A BLACK SHEET OF POLY , PRICES MAY HAVE WENT UP A LIL ANYBODY KNOW WHAT GTO GETS FOR A 12 OR 13 FOOTER WITH POLY ?

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR OPINIONS GOOD OR BAD ....

HERES A PIC OF MY LAST DB..

Dusty, Alumitech in orlando had a 14' ultralight for sale that a customer couldn't take delivery of for some reason. Skeeter has more info on that.I think bobby may have some hulls out back for sale also. There is an ad in the sa classifieds for a couple thurman style deckovers. Al's buddy stork was going to sell his 12' al built deckover to build a longer hull to accomodate one of abner's gearboxes. I am not sure though if he still wants to sell it. He had his stand redone to fit the gearbox. The 13' ultra light diamondback ultralight was $3600.00 with polymer when i bought mine 2 years ago.

Dusty the rudder on your old boat --- Was it a single rudder? and what is the size of it as I see it looks square in shape? Also dose the top of it have a ??? wing on it for strength or for more air flow control??

I'm a firm beleiver in Alumitech Hulls,Give Dave a call.My hull is a 2004 13X7.6.I had the sides cut down a couple of extra inches. She runs great dry or deep water.I paid $2850 back then, I've heard they are around $3400 now with poly. They may still have the 14 footer Geneva0550 was talking about, you will have to check with Dave. Here's there number 4078265373

SKEETER I APPRECIATE THAT BUD , THANKS FOR THE NUMBER.....

Brewster, I can't remember the price's on the hulls but here's the number to GTO 1-352-401-9070 They build a good strong hull, Ive had good luck with mine, I punish it hard.

D,

What happened to that D-Back above

It looks like a sweet, nice runnin boat!

Maybe my boat will make it out for the hunt next year

Gotta figure out how to slow down these rats I'm racin' against!

Basketcase

Yeah Basket,
I hear ya on that rat race!

Ya know,
They say life is like a roll of toilet paper........ The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes!

Hope I don't see no cardboard today! 8)

Later.
Gotta go run over some rats.

I have run DB,Hammant and alumieitech. Alumatech don't run the hill that great are pretty heavy, but handle in the water well, diamondback handle water well but run on their nose which hangs em' up on the hill, they roll on the nose before they break loose, hammant are the best of both worlds, light, handle water well and eat the hill up.the only problem is those boys are are usually slammed ,getting a boat from them sometimes takes longer than you want to wait.........but it is worth it,if you hunt like me you, spend more time on the hill than in the water ,that light hill burnin' boat is important.

D-B, we met one morning a few years back down at the Diamondback shop. You'd just had that tail feather airbrushed and Bobby was putting it on your boat. That was a sweet ride I thought.

My wife and I were there trying to order a boat.

olf

I KNOW I MET SOME NICE FOLKS UP THERE OLF ART. DANG SURE IS A SMALL WORLD AINT IT BUD ? WELL HOPEFULL WILL GET TO MEET AGAIN SOON OUT ON THE WATER..

BASKETCASE , YES SIR IT WAS A NICE RIG , LIKE I SAID IT WAS GREAT IN THE WATER AND HANDLED GREAT BUT WHEN YOU BEEN HUNTIN THEM PALMBEACH HULL'S ALL YOUR LIFE ITS HARD FOR ANY OTHER BOAT TO COMPARE TO THEM ON THE DRY GROUND.. LIKE P.VENTO SAID WHEN WE HUNT THE LAST WATER YOU USALLY SEE FOR THE DAY IS THE RIVER BEFORE YOU LEAVE IT  BUT THE DIAMONDBACK WAS WAY BETTER IN THE DEEP WATER AND ALOT MORE STABLE.... I REKON IM JUST SEARCHIN FOR THAT HAPPY MEDIUM .I THINK IM GONNA SLOW DOWN A LIL BEFORE I JUST GO JUMPIN ON A HULL I KNOW I WONT BE HAPPY WITH IN THE LONG RUN , AND DO SOME RIDING ON A FEW.....BUT IM SURE YOU KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO AIRBOAT YOUR WHOLE LIFE THEN SPEND A SESAON WITHOUT ONE , IM TWICH'IN LIKE A CRACKHEAD AT CHRISTMAS WANTING TO GET BACK ON THE MARSH.... OH AND I SOLD THAT BOAT TO A FELLOW OUT OF DAVIE...

YOU KNOW OLF THAT REMINDS ME ABOUT THAT DAY I BROUGHT BOBBY THE RUDDER .. HE WAS MAKING THE MOUNTS, ON THE SINGLE AIRFOIL'S MOST OF THEM THE TELFLEX CABLE MOUNTS ON TOP THE RUDDER AND NORMALLY ON THE DOUBLE RUDDERS THEY MOUNT ON THE BOTTOM....SO BOBBY WELDED THE BRACKET TO THE TOP OF THE CAGE AND MADE THE MOUNT AND THEN MADE THE ONE ON THE RUDDERSTICK AND I HAULED ASS TO GET HOME AND WIRE IT AND RUN THE BOAT... WELL GOOD THING I RAN HER IN MY BUDDYS PASTURE INSTEAD OF TAKING HER RIGHT TO THE WATER , I GOT ON HER FIRED HER UP EVERYTHING WAS GREAT TOOK OFF ACROSS THE DRY AND WAS GETTING IT !! WELL EVERTHING WAS GOOD TILL I CAME TO THE END OF THE FENCE LINE AND PULLED MY RUDDERSTICK BACK TO TURN LEFT AND THE BOAT MADE A HARD RIGHT AND CRASHED THREW THE 5 STRAN AND ABOUT THREW MY BIG ASS OUT OF THE BOAT !!! I GOT BACK ON THE BOAT AND TOOK OFF AGAIN AND WHEN I PULLED BACK SHE WENT RIGHT WHEN I PUSHED FORWARD SHE WENT LEFT ..I WAS DUMBFOUNDED I SAT THERE FOR A MINUTE AND MY BUDDY COME UP AND SAID "WHAT THE HELL'S THE MATTER WITH YA YOU FORGET HOW TO DRIVE A DAMN BOAT " ? WELL WE YELLED AT EACH OTHER FOR A MINUTE AND I TOLD HIM HELL NO YOU DAMN FOOL !! GET YOUR ASS UP HERE AND TURN THE STICK.. I STARTED TAKING OFF THE TELFLEX CABLE WHEN IT HIT ME .. I LOOKED AT THE RUDDER STICK AND BOBBY HAD MADE THE MOUNT FOR THE CABLE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE STICK LIKE IM SURE HE DID A 100 TIMES ON DOUBLE RUDDER BOATS ...WELL ON A SINGLE RUDDER BEING THE CABLE IS MOUNTED ON TOP WHEN YOU PUSH THE STICK FORWARD IT PUSHES THE CABLE IN AND VISE VERSA.....ON A SINGLE RUDDER YOU HAVE TO MOUNT THE TELEFLEX CABLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STICK SO WHEN YOU PUSH THE STICK FORWARD IT PULLS THE CABLE OUT AND PUSHES IT IN WHEN YOU PULL BACK... ME AND BOBBY HAD A GOOD LAUGH ABOUT THAT ONE...NO BIG DEAL IT WAS A 5 MINUTE FIX BUT COULD OF BEEN A HOLE LOT WORSE HAD I BEEN ON THE WATER.....LOL..

Seems to me like it was a Sat. morning. You had a lady with you, and my wife and I were walkin around lookin at all of the stuff they had on the lot, trying to make sure we didn't forget something that we wanted to add to our boat.

I remember walkin up to you and telling you that yours was the first single rudder I'd ever seen up close, and that you told me that you lked one better for dry runnin.

Fran Fleckinger was with us, and she was in awe of the airbrush on that rudder. That really was a cool boat.

D-B, When you come up to start on that hull i would be glad to help out. I like the whole process of building a new boat.Plenty of bud light when were done bucking those rivets
