I got stuck....again

Well kids, black mud is bad, even if it is flattened out from another boat going over it.

Took my dad for a ride today in Orange Lake. One of the trails that leads to River Styx had a section about 100 yards long that was dried up black mud.

We didn't make it.

After exhausting my PVC pipe supply (only had one piece :? ) forward motion was again at a halt.

We needed water. After making a couple trips to the water with a plastic grocery bag, I had enough of that. I started looking around, and spotted my orange waterproof toolbox. After dumping the contents in the bow compartment, I started filling it with water and splashing it under the boat. Then I gave myself a little trail of water to go over.

I grabbed the bow and told dad to stand on it. I guess he had trouble pushing the gas all the way down, but we were still able to get it moving even at about 2300 RPM. Once the boat got on the trail of water it moved pretty decent.

I WILL be adding an 11 quart bucket and some dish soap to the bow compartment......that is, after I replace the fuel pump on my truck that went out in Sonny's BBQ parking lot on the way home from the lake! What a day

tall grass on top of more black mud.

I may have done better on the grass but by the time I realized how dry it was it was too late to choose another course

Red,

One of the best tricks yet is what I saw none other than our veteran "white trash condo comando" do a few months ago!

Keep the 5 gallon bucket on the boat with the dish soap

It works!

Yeah, last weekend I was with my wife and we were with another boat going to my Dad's cabin the back way. Got to the fence line and the trail dried up to black muck. So I jump up on the tall grass and ran that pretty much all the way back in about a half mile. That palmbeach hull I have does a real good job going through the tall grass with ease. But I still haven't got use to the way it turns in deep water it is nothing like a slider hull.

RD: You forgot to mention if you had a good time on the lake? Couldn't a been all bad...

The bucket and soap thing is a good idea.
Jeff and I took my mother out today....what a beautiful day on the river. I swear every bird in Florida was on the Kissimmee River today. Didn't get stuck but momma fell and skinned her knee up climbing on the boat the first time.

BTW...I really like your signature.....

Oh yeah, we had a ball.

My dad really enjoyed the trip. He couldn't stop telling mom about it.

It was dad's first time out on Orange and I think he was really taken in by it.

That black sticky mud is how they first came up
with the idea for them bent forward rudder sticks.
Seems like the guy got up out of the mud, walked
back to his boat and said heck with it I'm gona just
leave it that way.

Red....

The system you are describing is for sale cheap at several of the "tool warehouses". Poly tank, pump, sprayer hose and wand. All for less than $80.00. It has saved my azz more times than I can count. It's light...I usually carry about 5 - 7 gals of water in the 12 gallon tank. Dat black mud is erful.

Red I'm glad you had a great time with your Dad spend as much time as you can with him, I had just picked up my boat three years ago from Diamondback and was on my way to west palmbeach to show it to him and take him for a ride when my brother called me and told me he was in the hospital that was the day before the first hurricane hit, we losts him when the third one came thru on my birthday he never got to see the boat or go for that ride.

That's too bad Sniper, but something tells me he gets to go ridin with you every time you go out

Yeah Sniper,
It will be a year tomorrow that our old man passed. He was gone in the blink of an eye.

He does ride with us, and we just keep on trying to do him proud.
I flat know he's proud of us.

I'm sure your doing the same.

Get all that quality time in you can Red.
Don't miss it.

"Don't waste your time... it's the one thing you can't get more of"
That's some darned good advice right there...
Get it done.

Me and Canefan entered the old man's boat in the Palm Beach show a few short months after he passed. He had been plann'in to do it himself.

That one's for you Pop.

Yea my Mom told me when I got back from New Orleans that I am sure your father is real proud of you and I'm sure he was with you while you were over there and I kinda feel he is with me every time I go out, this Christmass I am comming down to West palm Beach to spend time with my Mom she is 80 and my brother and I are going to take her to Area 3a for the day I going to ask Airboat4fun to go with us as a guide like he did last year with my brother and I, she is really looking forwad to the trip she talks about it all the time.
