They guy who bought my boat has been out every day but two for the past month! I ain't been out once. I just can't get caught up so I can throw my temp ride boat together. And I need my escape from the rat race!
Believe it or not he is he just avoids her at all times! If my wife hears my boat fire up without inviting her it's the couch for a week but what's cool is I enjoy ridding with her more anybody else! Needless to say she ain't happy I'm boat less!
Sounds to me like you've got your priorities right and he doesn't. His wife might put up with that for a while, but probably not forever.
I can imagine that Dakota or Dawn would put up with that for about 20 minutes.
Heck, I'd ask him to borrow it sometime for a couple of hours so that you and your bride can go get a 'water fix'.
Besides, it'll give you a chance to check it over and make sure he's takin good care of it.
His last airboat he blew up 4 4 bolt main 454's in one month yes one month! I have been hearing some horror stories about what has is doing to the boat! I told him I'm gonna print on my business cards that our motors are so tough not even Darrell A$#@% can't blow them up! He didn't think that was funny. Anyway to give you an idea there are two holes in the bottom because he wore the slick bottom off in the 1st night and has run dry so much it wore holes completely thru the aluminum. The hull fills up with water now from the holes in the bottom! I don't like how he treats it but it's his now and not mine!
Thunder sounds like he needs to invest in some polymer for the bottom of the boat, it must be hard to take seeing your old boat abused like that oh well it's not your problem any more, I hope you get you a new ride soon.
that is like someone trying to slap your wife or kid when you put some love in building something and they abuse it but atleast you got paid for it.and what really sucks is having a boat and looking at it everyday and wishing you could go out.i think it would be better without having to look at one.
Geez, I hate it when people abuse stuff. Even when I don't own it I don't like watching it. Sorry to hear that.
I grew up kind of poor I guess, although we didn't know it at the time. If you had something nice you treasured it and treated it like
you needed it to last forever.
I don't understand guys that hammer stuff and then throw it away. It sounds like he doesn't treat your old airboat any better than he
treats his wife.
Olf Art I know what your talking about I made a lot of sacrifices to get my boat and I have had it called the trailer queen more than once my wing man over in New Orleans gave me a lot of kidding because I was being so careful in trying not to skin my boat up while we were working over there but I am very proud of my boat I have wanted one since I was a kid and this is my first boat that I have ever owned and like you said I treasure it and peoples lives depend on it being in good working order plus I just would like to keep it looking new as long as I can and I think Thunder can attest to the fact that I take matriculate care of it and like you it just kills me to see some one take something nice and abuse it and they don't get much nicer a boat than thunders old boat
Hey Thunder, You might be finding that couch soon for not having a boat. Ya know , she can only put up with that so long.LOL, Good luck on getting the temp boat in the water, its alittle cool to be sleeping on the couch. SO GETTER DUN, Cajun
Don't feel too bad: I've "owned" a new (used) boat for a month and haven't been able to get it out of the barn....the guys there plowed snow up in front of the door, right now it's ~ 4ft. high and a good 20' to the door!
After lunch, we're takeing four teenagers, that many more shovels and a couple snow-blowers and we're going to try and dig out the door so we can pull it out....it's just begg'n to be run.
If you can make it to Des Moines, I have an extra airboat you could ride in the snow Waterthunder. They both have aircraft engines but they work great. You just have to dress warm.
FP1201 if you get a chance to run that boat in the snow you will have a blast. If you haven't done it before just be careful when you stop and park the boat on the snow. The bottom heats up from riding and can stick pretty solid if you don't move it around a little after it cools down. I usually just push the bow a few inches to break it free after it has set for a few minutes.
Thanks for the tip! Running it on the snow is exactly what we have in mind, there is a huge cornfield and a golf course right behind my house, they're both clean, clear, and a-hold deep on a six foot Indian in snow.....should be real interesting.
