Ice fishermen rescued from bay

SAGINAW BAY � The airboat from the Huron County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to help in the rescue of ice fishermen stranded 1/2 mile off the Geiger Road public access site in Fairhaven Township.

According to a press release from the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, Matthew J. Reidel, was ice fishing on Christmas Eve with friends, Aaron Eberlein and Charles Mihacsi, both of Sebewaing, when the incident occurred just before 6 p.m.

Reports from the sheriff’s office indicate that when the men began to head to shore Reidel’s snowmobile....

I hope the guys ok! I had a friend in the Navy that lived there, (I visited there for 2 days back in 1979). I believe Huron County borders Canada. (brrr....cold)!

I know those waters well. It is the closest thing we have to the Fl. everglades. Except for this time of year.... As per the news clip they done every thing right after Reidel had his miss hap. I'll bet he will be back out their this week end if the ice is thicker.
