Idea to help support Southern Airboat

lil_armond

Well-known member
One mans junk is another mans treasure. Southern Airboat should set up a board in the classified section where people could put their "junk" they just want to throw out
and if someone could use it they just pay Southern Airboat a fair price or donation for
what ever it is. Of course we wouldn't want to put worthless trash in the board but
if it has some what of a value it could help support the hosting needs.

Just thinking outside the box, any one have any input on how this could work. Well it's just a thought but it could work.

great idea maybe even help some of the young folks trying desperatly to get into a airboat i have a 78x58 fla air prop ill give the site great for a 2to1 with a little hp great for 177to1 caddy

good idea.

I've got some headers I just don't want to throw away, but I'd give away to someone making a donation to Southern Airboat, or to the FAA Lobbyist fund, etc.

Hedman headers, an aluminum intake manifold, a bunch of gas tanks, stainless cage, and no doubt will have more when we build a new boat.

Would it have to be just airboat related stuff? I'm cleaning out my house and old workshop - 20 years worth of non airboat related stuff building up in there!!! And I hate throwing some of it away. I recently threw away a small working tv, I've got a stove just sitting around - the oven needs the top element. There's a box full of the guts from a rotating leslie speaker, boxes and boxes of floor tiles are waiting to hit the dumpster. 500 Old LP record albums will probably end up in the trash - a roof leak got part of the shelf wet.
And I got a 36 foot 5th wheel camper in the back yard, just rotting away. Sooner or later, that thing has gotta go. Free to a good home (from my point of view). Maybe strip the camper body off and weld up a big gooseneck utility trailer or put a LOT of work into restoring the camper.

If someone made a $300 donation to the FAA lobbyist fund, they can HAVE the trailer for free. I'll give them the title.

If someone sent in $25 to Southern Airboat, they can have the 25 or so boxes of tiles.
(restaurant floor tiles - 4x4 terra cotta brown - some baseboard a few grit (nonslip) textured)

Send $10 to Rick and you can have all the gas tanks or the stove or the headers or the manifold.

Come to think of it, we really don't need a special section for this. you could just list it in the classifieds right now.
But it may help to have a "charity donations" category or something.

good thinkin' Armond!!
Rick?????? Can I start listing some stuff in the classifieds and tell the buyer to send the money to the site?
Need input from the big boss!! :)

Did dblj006 ever recover that stolen Banks Maxwell prop? I still have one that is identical I will give him if someone wants to pay shipping. I'm guessing shipping will be $60. If it costs more I would be happy to pay the difference. If you ever find the thief I can come down and talk to him too and slip out of town without any locals knowing the difference.

That one is for a Volkswagen type motor. The one I have looks just like the one he had next to his cabin door. I've had this one for five years or more and it is probably 20 years old or more. Still works good. I put it on my boat and it works fine, but not quite as good as the Florida Airprop.

Mr Mood when you say the trailler needs alot of work what do you mean I`m thinking maybe for hunt camp perhaps maybe sorta kinda perhaps.

TREX - I put the headers in the classifieds just a moment ago.... all the info you should need about them is here: http://www.southernairboat.com/classifi ... oduct=1118

Armond - is this sort of what you were talking about?
(click link above)

Rick - I need your input about this too... hopefully someone will be paying you for this, and I need to hear from you when/if it happens.

I've got maybe 3 more things ready to list the same way. With more to follow.

I'm hoping it'll be painless to drop me a note that says "member" paid me $10. Either by email PM or phone/nextel. Let me know your thoughts. This sort of stalled out so I just went ahead and made some Git'r dun happen.

I'm all ears when it comes to suggestions for the technical or practical part of this.

TREX - I'll chop my way thru some vines today and get back there to the cage with a tape measure today or real soon.

Sounds good mood, thanks...I'll let you know.

Thanks for starting this thread lil_armond. I've got a few things to list too.

Rick

It only took about 6 hours before I got a call on the headers. Pending confirmation from Rick that the guy sent $10 in... they are SOLD!!!

Check the classifieds - I've got an aluminum manifold listed there too.... same price and same deal.

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to have a thread linking to the Classifieds? I suppose this one is as good as any.

Way to go Lil_armond!!! Southern Airboat just got a $10 donation, and I just got rid of some trash!!!!

One man's junk is another man's treasure FOR SURE!!!

:D

I put another one up there. And still more to come. I got some brand new Energy systems motor mounts - brand new in the box. As soon as I find the photos I'm listing them too.

Now up in the southern airboat garage sale is a Delta portable dust collector.

They just raised the rent AGAIN at my storage unit - I gotta get crap out of there and save $175 a month.

Rick, if you are still reading here, a long shot suggestion:
Just a thought, when you list a new classified, you have a choice for several kinds of currency (british Pounds, Italian Lira, etc) Do you think it's possible to add a "currency" for site support?

OR

There is also an option to pay direct from the classified page via paypal if the name and account match. I can't get that feature to work, but if is just a matter of activating a software feature, Set it up so one-click and pay Southern Aitboat.com, Inc!!!

Has anyone else put any stuff there to donate to the garage sale? The headers and manifold I put up only lasted about 5 hours before both were gone.
Maybe it does not need any tweaking - if it's working, don't fix it. :)

C'mon folks - take a snapshot of your junk and list your GARAGE SALE stuff!
One man's junk is another man's treasure.... and Southern Airboat wins in the process.
