pardon me for asking.... just what are we looking at? Is that a hull?

Or maybe it's the plug for a mold you are making?

thanks for posting the photos dblj. :)

:?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

how the heck do you guys do that every time... when i cant post someone else can...

and It's a cheap wood/glass hull made after the lake buggy plans for people that can afford expinsive airboats and its filled with foam so if i bust it somehow it wont sink and i wont loose my motor/prop ect...

If i recall correctly maybe $100 on wood/glue/screws
Got lucky eought to get a kawa 25hp for free
and all my metal i have scraps just laying around im useing
but i hav to admit the prop kicked my ass at $470 witch i know is cheap for a prop im just a broke ass :-P

so minus labor i prob got... 800 bucks in it? and all i have left to buy pullys for the belt drive

Thanks for posting the pictres by the way dude greatly apreciated.. i finished welding up my prop mount this afternoon out of some old rusty scrap metal we have laying around now i have to sand blast it sometime this week and paint i up with a rattle can..

I see it now. It's thin plywood with furring strips on top of it.
at first glance, it looked like the hull was made out of a bunch of 2x12's and it looked on the heavy side.

I see it now. plywood webbing. Lightweight. Nice.

There is a thread around here someplace about how to post photos.
There is a definite trick to it - simple, but it's a computer - so no typos allowed.
Maybe it's in 'site related'.

good luck!

Hey guys iordered a composite propeller friday and i thingk it operates at 3100 rpms and my lil kawa 25 max rpm is 3600 anybody know wat a good reduction for me would be ima go buy some pullys this weekend

And no if i recall exactly its 5x12 on the bottem

oh man i dont remember i forget the weight in the plans but when i get it totally completed ima drive it to the truck stop or the race track and get a weight on it... with 2 people i can pick it up and put it off and on the trailer so i figure if i take four guys with me when i weigh it i can just weight it and trailer pick it up an sit it to the side then weigh te trailer alone and get an exact weight on the boat... i'm realistic i dont even expect it to run fast at all im thinkin 10mph but where i fish it couldn't be a mile from our boat ramp... we just have alot of shallows i cant get threw to get to the good catfish holes cause the water go's down to like 2-6 inches and the ol jon boat and the outboard just cant hanle it

I've seen talk on here that the old timers would run a sheet of stainless steel on their hull bottoms, like poly is used for today.
It would obviously add to your weight, but would add A LOT of durability to add something even as thin as 28ga.
Even 28ga in SS it is extremely tough (and rigid) stuff !!
5 x 12 is a standard sheet dimension.

Just a thought in case you find that you get too much wear on the bottom.

ill keep that in mind i'll tell u what i wish i did was instead of the plywood bottem just used a thick poly as the bottem just in place of the wood would have been a good bottem and i could have left that wood weight out but.. u saw my budget above :P hard to buy poly for that lol

I told you the pictures where easy  nice to see you found your way back to the site

3600 rpm engine and 3100 rpm prop you need a 1.2:1 ratio ( some thing like a 3.25" bottom pulley and a 4" top )

Wood is extremely light and strong when it's used to it's full potential. Don't forget that one of the largest airplanes ever built was made
out of wood ...... the Spruce Goose.

Chesapeake Light Craft ( CLC-boats.com ) has a 17' 9" Wherry rowboat in their catalog that weighs 65 pounds!

olf

hey dude long time no see yeah old computer crashed and i forgot website and passwords and junk but im back now... just got home bout to goto sleep so i wont be tired at work tonight but ima put a couple more pictures up real quick... thanks for the ratio i think i might have messed up getting a composite prop.. the wooden one would have been lower rpms and i could have used a better reduction What do you think??
here's a few pictures one is just me and my girl friend and the others are my prop stand...
