It must have been real tough in the old days when people actually had to make decisions on their actions! These days we just go by the rules and "bam" the world has become idiot proof :!: It's too bad that regardless of the rules and laws there will always be an idiot somewhere.

I agree Harvey ... that is way too fast for any camera to ever operate ... no way ... never happen. LOL

That is a funny post.

I looked at the situation in afghanastan & iraq when it first flared up and thinking like a true surveyor I figured we could bomb afghanastan, iraq and iran until an inland sea was created at which point we could pay developers to go there and build waterfront condo's of course with government subsidies in place naturally. of course the view of the oil wells situated in the newly created inland sea would need some form of compensation to the waterfront residents .. say free natural gas and gas for their boats and cars. Fishing would be banned so further payments would be required .. but all in all it would have been a sweetheart deal and NO AMERICAN SOLDIERS WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.

2 words Disney World

AMEN to that! So many laws have been created to protect the idiots that the idiots are starting to out number the rest of us. Trust me on this one I live in COCOA!!!!!!!!

Just about every hard working and intelligent couple I know has chosen not to have children or only have one. Most of the ignorant lazy people who have absolutely no work ethic or intelligence are popping out kid’s. I’m sure since these kids are raised by their parents they will become the same. I’m sorry to be brutal but I have a hard time with how much I’m being taxed this year while I have to listen to some stupid lazy ass tell me how the government should do this or that for them. Man has become an abomination. See in nature only the strongest survive but in America we give them aid and encourage them to breed even if they can’t feed themselves or their family. Hey country make a more brutal statement so I wouln’t be the bad guy. Come on take one for the team.

Thunder I believe I take enough for the team already my man. LOL but your right or government encourages everything but work ethic and responsibility.

to get a job you need to be drug free some jobs alcohol and tobacco free but to get welfare and food stamps you can be hooked on anything how can you afford cigarettes and drugs but you cant afford to feed yourself and put a roof over your head us the tax payers need to give it to ya

Thunder, philosophically we were cut from the same mold. That's some good stuff you say, and all thoughts I've had myself. But I (we) need to be careful with those thoughts, it's a fine line. Hitler had thoughts like this.

Cntry & Croc (that almost sounds like margerine or something) - Both great statements! We ought to make a monumnet and plop it in front of some government building... A 3 ton stone with those words etched into them...
Our government encourages everything but work ethic and responsibility.

Find the rock, I'll sandblast the words into it. We'll roll it off the back of a truck onto the sidewalk in front of city halls, and take a couple to Tallahassee & D.C.. Talk about "throwing stones"!!!

matt.

I say if your capable of work but refuse to, and live off of the hard working tax payers then we (the tax payers) should find an island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean to drop them on and let um fend for there selves. It’s a shame to say but there is no end in sight, this type of living is being passed on from generation to generation. But we as US citizens have the right to over through the government and start from scratch. There’s a though

What a brilliant quote. Our government encourages everything but work ethic and responsibility. To me it all comes back to being responsible for yourself and only yourself. But then again I don't live off other people.

Marshbunny - Please take note that I have refrained from commenting on the "camera issue".... Because I know what girls like. ;)

Like other threads here, this one has turned to the topic of the fall of the American way. I suppose it started out that way with humor. We as airboaters are self sufficient types. America needs more like us.

I've posted this before, and I think it deserves to be posted again....

I found this on the web a few years back... don't read this and think I'm against democracy! But it does fit... and WE NEED TO FIGHT IT!
"At about the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution in 1787, a Scottish history professor by the name of Professor Alexander Tyler had this to say about "The Fall of the Athenian Republic" over 2,000 years previous to that date.

The Fall of the Athenian Republic.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse (generous gifts) from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been two hundred years.

These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance, from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back into bondage."

This progression may be true, but I think there is a way to make it dwell longer on the liberty and abundence settings. A lot of people have moved into the complacency setting, and many are on the dependence setting.

that is just scary. We've got to get them back!

Oh, and solve these airboat issues too. I guess my point is that if this progression did not happen, we'd not have the complaining going on about the airboats. So saving airboats is about THE MOST AMERICAN AND PATRIOTIC THING YOU CAN DO TODAY!!!

:)

And to list those "steps" again....
From bondage to spiritual faith (the pilgrims)
to great courage (the founding fathers)
to liberty (the wild west to WWII)
to abundance (Overlaps with the above catagory to relatively recent times)
to complacency (saying "It's not a problem")
to apathy (means "I don't care" & "Let someone else handle it")
to dependence (Welfare and laws protecting us from ourselves)
back into bondage

Where are you in this list? I fight feeling of complacency a lot. I become overwhelmed and take the apathy view too often. I fight that feeling! But I think all too many don't fight it. They just give in and the big wheel, she keeps-a-turnin'.

This is not about airboats. It's about America. Sorry Cntry. I'm not saying we have a RIGHT to go boating. I'm saying our problems with airboating are just SYMPTOMS of a larger problem. And it's a problem that is bigger than most can even imagine. The "patient" may be terminally ill here. There may NOT be a fix. But if we don't try, we're as responsible for the downfall of America as everyone on welfare.

that's my say. Sorry if I've offended anyone.

matt.

Apathy - Lots of people after this last batch of storms are sitting and waiting for the government to pay them to rebuild.

Then I look around some more. I was over in Cameron Parish (SW LA) over the weekend visiting some relatives. Hell they are fighting to be allowed by home as the southern 2/3s of the parish (county) has no water, no electicity, and no phones, so it is not liveable according to some. The is "you must be out by 1 hour after dark" curfew.

Apparently someone forgot that about 70 years ago, these people were living that way and had been since around 1820.

They are fighting to make the parish remove the insurance rules that are going into effect that will require 80 percent of the parish to elevate everything to the 12 or 16 foot elevation so floods will not get them again. Telling the elected officials, most of us didn't have insurance, are not asking for hand outs and are already started to pick up the pieces to rebuild.

And it seems like lots of the ones with insurance are getting screwed. One of my wife's cousins lost over 2000 cattle and are rebuilding fences already.

Guys - Don't believe the news, there are lots of good red blooded Americans that are willing to fight still around. Look at the response to the hurricanes by boaters everywhere. It just is that it takes alittle to get their hackles up. But when they stand up, whoever is in their sights had better take notice. Otherwise they may just get some manners bet into them.

Aces - I have to admit my eyebrows raised at the bondage stage.

I knew a girl long ago that had some handcuffs .... opps, here is not the place for that story.
