Injection Question

Does anyone have any experience with the injection system that was used on the 6 cylinder, 406 cubic inch (285hp @ 4000rpm ) "Tiara" series of motors that Continental produced back in the late 60's- mid 70's ?

what problems are you having with your system?? i know someone who can fix it if its needs tuning.. pretty sure thats the same setup as a520 as far as the throttle body and injection pump. i know the throttle body is different but should use the same controller unit..

Actually it's quite a bit different than any other Continental system that I've been around. It doesn't have a barrel valve and the mixture is contolled at the pump. I'm using an IO-360 style pump with it. I've got it adjusted pretty close but am unsure about the two additional adjustments that are located on the throttle body. Can ya' believe that it didn't come with instructions! :laughing3: http://www.southernairboat.com/photopos ... 0_1057.JPG

The engine is an E-185 bottom end with GTSIO -520 cylinders, A 260hp 470 camshaft was modified to fit these cases and degreed in with eccentric inserts in the cam gear. It has Lycoming hyperbolic lifters and small journal Lycoming rods with dovetailed end caps, the crank has been stroked and it displaces approximately 535 cubic inches. the pistons are hand cut to run on pump gas and weigh in at around 1200 grams each. The wrist pins are cut down and kept in place with lock rings. However, the piece de resistance' is the lightweight oil sump lovingly fabricated by my brother-in -law out of an old stainless steel fire extinguisher and a dog bowl. Can anyone give me a heads up about the two adjustment screws on the throttle body?

There are two adjustments on the valve that controls fuel flow (mounted on the end of the throttle butterfly shaft). One seems to be at the inlet to the valve ( coming from the pump) and the other appears to be at the outlet going to the fuel distributor. I'm in the process of setting up this system after using a Holley 4bbl on this engine for the last few years. I'm hoping someone might be able to help me identify which one is low and which one is high before I start tweaking on it this weekend.

if you are in sumter county you need to take it to bobby hoffman and he can help you with all your needs..
