Why it's important for sportsmen to have access to the pop media to tell the true story of Conservation...................
If sportsmen had the same media access as the anti, this could have been a different outcome.

Anti's Buy Election Victory in Michigan- (11/13)
Michigan

On November 7, Michigan voters defeated Proposal 3, a referendum that would have allowed mourning dove hunting, by a margin of 68 percent to 32 percent. Anti-hunters financed the multi-million dollar campaign.

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most powerful anti-hunting group, bankrolled the effort to ban the hunt with $1.6 million in contributions out of $2.3 million spent by the opponents’ campaign. Its contributions reveal a 250 percent increase over its previous record amount spent on a wildlife issue.

The HSUS and its puppet organization, the Committee to Restore the Dove Shooting Ban, purchased television airtime and ran anti-hunting messages throughout the final six weeks of the campaign.

This level of spending on a ballot issue is unprecedented for HSUS, and confirms sportsmen’s greatest fears about the retooled animal rights organization, which merged with the Fund for Animals in 2005. The merger put anti-hunting zealots in charge of more than $100 million that could be spent to take away hunting rights.

The sportsmen-led Citizens for Wildlife Conservation Committee, formed to defend the dove hunt, never truly got off the ground in its efforts to match the financial largesse of the anti-hunting campaign. The group raised less than $500,000, and was able to muster only a week-long radio campaign to combat the antis’ television ads.

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance was one of the largest contributors to the campaign to protect the hunt, which had been established by the legislature in 2004

Anti's....you never know where these right wing bastards are going to strike next! Sometimes you have to stop and wonder is it really anti's or is it just the consensus of the majority. Just be glad we maintain the "this isn't how we do it where I come from" status in the south. Be on the lookout....skunkape hunting is the next thing to go.

What really hurts is when some liberal urban auto worker
from Detroit ( or maybe ex- auto worker now welfare recip )
can vote on how a tax paying farmer in the UP puts food on his
table. Unless there is a valid conservation reason to limit
hunting, the peoples will should not mater outside the county
of their residence.

Radio Legend Lets Anti-Hunting Colors Fly High- (11/17)
National
Join our e-mail alert list

One of America’s most well-known radio commentators earlier this week showed his anti-hunting colors in a nationally broadcast message.

On Nov. 13, syndicated broadcaster Paul Harvey’s noon report announced how ‘thankful’ Michigan doves are that voters rejected the state’s dove hunting initiative. He proudly rattled off a number of other ballot issue campaigns to which the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has contributed in recent years, including efforts to ban trapping and bear hunting. Harvey concluded by praising the organization’s new-found political prowess, saying HSUS “has never had such clout on the Hill.

Obviously, Paul Harvey is entitled to his opinion. In fact, it’s his job. However, the advocacy of an agenda that seeks to destroy the lifestyle and livelihoods of millions of Americans will elicit responses.

“America’s sportsmen do not stand idle when the faction that is trying to eliminate hunting, fishing and trapping is handed credibility, said Bud Pidgeon, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance president. “Paul Harvey’s support and recognition of the animal rights movement, and HSUS specifically, is a blow to the pro-hunting movement and deserves to be addressed.

This is not the first time Harvey has used his radio segment as a soapbox for his animal rights viewpoint. He has praised People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals leader Ingrid Newkirk “for her dedication and commitment towards making planet earth a better place for animals. He made these glowing comments about a woman who hopes hoof-and-mouth disease will come to America!

Take Action! Sportsmen are urged to express their dissatisfaction with Paul Harvey’s controversial radio segment. Let radio stations that air Paul Harvey’s program know that you object to his extremely controversial views on animal rights.

Also, contact Paul Harvey sponsors and let them know that you object to their support of a program that acts as a mouthpiece for the anti-hunting movement.

When I was a kid working with my dad during summers we would listen to
Paul Harvey and I liked his show. But not long ago "Brokeback Mountain" came out, and Willie Nelson did his gay cowboy song, Paul Harvey had a story about a church in the Carolinas somewhere that welcomed all gay cowboys and cowgirls which really disappointed me because I felt he was helping to promote that kind of bulls*%t. And to me it also seemed that he had some sort of prejudice. Now this confirms it for me. Just another example of some media pr!(k abusing his freedom to condemn somebody else's. I haven't listened to his program since that day.

Dblj, I grew up listening to Paul Harvey too (which must tell you how old I am :) ),but as he gets older he seems to be sliding to the Left.
That's unfortunate. To give him the benefit of the doubt, he may not be writing his own program anymore.

I hope that's the case.
