I have always been told that jacks are to correct slight deviations in the bottom of your hull. They help keep it shaped the way you want it to be. I have two sets in my alumitech that I had installed when it was built. I have never adjusted them. I felt it cheaper to get them put in while the boat was empty instead of taking it apart later. I know lots of people who have used them .. some with success and some not. Subtle changes are what they are all about but when its the planing surface subtle is good. They also add a certain degree of added support as it ties everything together in more places.
You want one set about 12 to 14" from the transom and another set just in front of the forward legs of the engine stand or close to midway of the flat part of your hull. minor adjustments is all you are looking to make with them so go easy would be my advice. The folks who know them well make you sick because they adjust them and it seems they never miss the first time. adjust, test, adjust, test but they work when used right.
My favorite line is : why not call a manufacturer and ask them what to do with them. I have found that if your are polite and not a pain, they will happily advise you because then you will call them first when you are ready to spend money. Just a thought.
