Jeep Engine???

I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried a 4.0 Jeep I6 engine on a plane or a boat?

It develops power at lower rpms than most auto engines. I think it has real good torque between 2500-3500 rpm. This would eliminate the need for a reduction drive.

Straight 6 engines are naturally balance and very smooth running engines.

It has EFI, they are plentiful, and should be cheap since they are not as coveted as 350s, etc.

What am I missing? Is it too heavy?

I've seen a few inline six's over the years, don't recall
any of them being hill burning fire breathers, but then
they were out there, and that's where it starts.

I am glad to see I am not the only one,

I own a total of 6 Jeeps and one 13' airboat hull, I know about my jeeps but not a whole lot about airboats, I had the Idea of pulling one of my I6's to try it till I get some stick time but Figured it wouldnt work because A lot of people say 350s dont run that great unless you get reduction and all that so now I just sit confused, lol

If you are going direct drive you need cubic inches . You jeep engine will be about like a 125 Hp 4 banger Aircraft Motor.
