July 4th weekend

Any plans for the weekend of the 4th. I would love to hook up with anyone who is having fun that weekend.
Tim

I can't promise anything Tim, but when we drove past Lake Okeechobee this afternoon it was calling for us..... "put you boat in... Ride in my waters..."

I wish we had our boat with us! It would not be too hard to talk us into a Lake O ride... maybe for the 4th.

But the June ride is scheduled for the last part of the month. I dunno. If the june ride ends up in north central Florida, why not another one in south central florida for those southern counties?

Heck, why not one down there ANYWAY! :)

We currently have no plans for the 4th. But I've not heard what our family's have in mind. Family first.

Hey Mood the next time your up for riding in Lake O give me a call. I've made a few recent trips on the lake and it is great riding. The water is down right now and some of the good riding spots are bone dry but there are still plenty of areas ripe for airboating.

Well Thanks JD. We'd love to take you up on that offer for a wingman. Rich Andrews mentioned something about riding there, Bravo, Randy ALL the south FL guys come on too and we'll make a party of it.

Are there any good places to BBQ on Lake Okeechobee?

We may not have it together enough to make it on the fourth, but we'll try. I'd love to pull Basket away from his busy chores for a day of fun!

This don't have to be a part of the monthly ride. This gang is easily large enough for multiple outings. And with the sound issue still upon us, sometimes I feel it's the courtious thing to do... to be part of a smaller group.

We may try to ride the Melbourne area with the Seminole crew too. It was so beautiful last time... and to think we almost called that ride off because it was the day after Katrina grazed past South Florida.

Laura and I are still seeking the perfect spot for our November wedding. :) It may be the glades, Milk bus, PawPaw, or someplace we've not discovered yet. It's a lot of fun looking!!!

we'll stay in touch about this one.

I know for us we are not going on an airboat. We are going to go relax the weekend at our property in North Florida. We need a break and that is just the place. 12 acres out 17 miles from one town and 20 from the other.

We are busy cutting grass this time of year....but maybe I can talk the ole man into a "birthday" ride.

Thanks for the recon Deuce. Turns out there's a family event that weekend I'll be attending.... I'm going to look at making the lake O ride later in the month. Hopefully the water will be up a little by then. But I'll bet the safety officials are liking it nice and low right now, with hurricane season just starting up. But I hope they let it fill up some.

The Alvin Ward boat ramp is really nice if you don't mind running the rim canal a short distance to the hayfield trail or other trails. The last time I ran was at the end of May and it was bone dry on most of the trails around Moore Haven. I have seen it so dry that the Moore Haven canal was dry in spots and about 3 feet wide in other spots. We got to the end of the canal and there was no lake, it was all muck and no water. Had to do a quick turn around before getting bogged down. I think that was around 98 or 99 when the lake level dropped to I think 9' or less? I remember looking at the lake from Lakeport and depending on which way the wind was blowing determined if you could see water or not.

We will launch in Moore Haven, Last time I was out we ran the Moore Haven canal to Dynamite Pass. From There you get into Moonshine/cochrans etc. Most of the good ridin is probally dry, and I don't think you can easily acces observation island. I'll find out more after I make a few calls to see what is open and what is not. I do know a trip we could make, but I heard the lakeport locks are closed?? That means you have to be able to go over the dike(which the flux capacitor setup does fine)..otherwise we will find a nice sandy beach, put up some umbrellas and drink beer.
