K way gearbox anygood

I ran one for years--this was Mr Kay's first box. They leaked (like all the first generation gearboxes) and there were some failures. I would look at the Stinger---the "new Kaye" product, and the Rotator which is what I run.

Regards, Charles

i can get a brand new k way 2.12 with 2.68 gears with it for $1,000 but if it will give me more trouble then it is worth i will try to find a better box i am trying to build another air boat as cheap as possible so i am on a budget just want to know if they are all right

I did not know it was possible to convert an early K-way box to a 2.68. In fact I doubt it. I would ring up Bruce Kay at Stinger and talk to him about it. Charles

the guy told me it is a k way shell with rotator gears the gear box is brand new but if not what he says is a k way 2.12 anygood

Just do like you do with a ring and pinion. Mark the flywheel at the top and the hub at the top then turn the hub one complete revolution and count how many revolutions the flywheel makes. So a 2.38 would just be under 2 and half at the flywheel and a 2.68 would just be over 2 and half turns!

Hey HB,
I've run my K-way for 8+ years now and beat the crap out of it... haven't even changed the fluid (bad, I know)... not a problem... no leaks, no failures, no complaint. I haven't seen a lot of them around but I like mine. It's pretty quiet too.

Sure won't hurt to call Bruce or Sharon like ruagatr said. PM me for their number if you like or call Daniel (an in/out-law who works with them) 352-206-5887. He knows the jist on what they have and odd combos like what you describe.
