I have heard some good things about the Kissimmee River of 98 near Cornwell north of Okechobee city....I would like to start running and hunting up there near starvation slough....from what i have heard from other folks is that there is good duck hog deer and turkey there....can anyone conform that...also is the water deep around the slough or any where else along the river....where is the best place to run

the restoration project has good airboating, but can get pretty dry. theres deep water in the old river canal and in the original river. duck hunting was real poor this year and deer hunting is usually from the boat, but you can walk in ares such as starvation slough, but it is primitive weapons only.

thats for the info.....i did alot of hunting this year near the river off a hunting lease on links bros. land.....we did very well on the three resevours on the land.....I heard on starvation slough you are allowed mainly archery and shoot guns....is the slough normally wet or dry??

starvation slough is usually dry it butts up to the big marsh, its muzzleloader and archery only, all the rest is shotgun only.

I mainly duck hunt, theres quite a few deer in the marsh, mostly see them before daylight then they disappear to the no hunt areas or the wma(hickory hammock) or private land. The hunting a couple years ago was alot better probally due to less hunting pressure. I have not seen many hogs there, but they have to come in off private land. You have to be careful hunting from the boat, there is always at least one and sometimes two FWC officers patrolling in airboats and they love to bust deer hunters with loaded guns while under power.

I am also duck hunt mainly.....I heard good things about this area and have wanted to check it out once i get my boat running....In the WMA near the slough i have done some research and I believe that you need a quota permit to hunt that area......thanks for the info....let me know if you have more
