KRVSA Airboaters Freedom Ride, Camp & Cookout - February

Well-known member
KRVSA announces an Airboat Freedom Ride, Camp and Cookout - Saturday, February 17 at Drasdo Oaks on Lake Hatchineha - all airboaters are welcome to attend and participate.

With the looming action planned by Osceola County Commission to make provisions to impose a curfew on airboat operation, the decision by South Florida Water Management District to post major portions of Lake Hatchineha well below the legally established High Water Mark, FFWCC officers - at the insistance of SFWMD - citing airboater / hunters for placing a tree stand ladder well below the High Water Mark on Lake Hatchineha, reported FFWCC citing airboaters riding in the marsh for "herding wildlife" and other pressing issues......some believe it's time for a peaceful and civil demonstration of our right to navigate upon the waters below the court established high water mark.

There will once again be a Saturday fish fry and cookout. This time, funds will be raised for the coming legal costs involved in defending our positions.

BigDaddy, I wil defenatley be there in my boat. I will donate some money as well, because Hatchnehia is my homeland, and a curfew is not acceptable!

HEY SOME ONE TELL JOHN BOY ! SO I WILL KNOW ! I THINK ITS ! WHAT WE CALL THE YACHT CLUB BUT NOT SURE !

When you leave Camp Mack, head toward Hatchineha (away from Kissimmee) and stay on the right shore of the lake. The lake edge runs generally straight and then takes a slight right hand curve followed by another long relatively straight shot. At the end of this long edge you'll be forced to make a HARD right hand turn around a point and you'll then be heading toward the Yacht Club. Drasdo is now on your right for the entire length from the point all the way to Gator Cove and the Yacht Club.

Here you go fatboy0054. I got this from another thread, Adam gives good detailed directions!

Not sure if I'll be there or not? Still dont have my hull, and I wont have it untill The 2nd of febuary, then I have to build the cage, then send it to powder coat. Then put everything together. I'll only have 15-days to build the cage and steering, have it powder coated, and assemble the boat. Maybe I can do it! Hope to see yall there!

Bump.

Got the list today for the group who will serve on the "Conflict Resolution" panel. Folks, we got Danny Brantley, Bob Hoover and Byron Maharrey - they got all the rest of the seats. No eco tourism representation, no lakefront marina owners - every major adjoining landowner (Gardner Marsh Hunt Club & Bronson Ranch manager - two reps from one property against Gardners Marsh).

KRVSA's efforts on February 17th will determine whether or not we'll likely be able to fight the good hard fight we'll need to keep reasonable access.

Ya'll Come, Please.

We're gonna cook fish, hush puppies, beans and Gena's cheeze grits. Has anyone out there found the mother load of froggies? Last time Stan, Country and somebody I forgot showed up with a tasty load for all of us. Was wondering....and hoping....

Thanks, Geneva. Itried to find it in the "search" - But, I wasn't successful. I ploaced a simiolar thread in "Airboat Talk" so it might be easier to find. Sure hope a few more events pop up to help raise the necessary $$,$$$.00 this is gonna require. We're gonna have some FUN on the 17th.

KSRVA,great job again.Good food (Big Daddy :D )and great company. The day started cold but warmed up.The Freedom Ride in the afternoon for those of you that went thru the marsh from Hole in the Wall to Catfish pond was an experience.SB0520(Shawn) diffenetely gave us the grand tour.I thought we ran alot of dry here in Seminole County.Try 7 miles of pure dry marsh   I'm glad I can say I did it,I think Geneva knew what we were getting into.LOL Thanks KSRVA and everyone that put it together.

Great food, Great friends, and great riding! Other than starting off a bit chilly it turned into an awesome day. Hat's of to KRVSA for the food it keeps getting better and better. Big Daddy's hushpuppies are killer! Big Daddy has been talkin about a marsh ride so stevie and I slid in at the hole in the wall heading to the catfish pond. I don't know if that was the plan, but it just happened..lol.. No water but luckily the tall grass was dead from the recent cold snaps. Other than some polymer cool off stops everyone made it though with no problems. There were some happy people when we found some water at the catfish hole! Nice meeting some new faces and seeing old friends. Looking forward to next time.

Shawn

I counted 77 boats there and what made me want to start counting was the fact that some had begun to leave. My guess is close to 100 boats present.

Incredible food and company.

Great Party you put together Danny Brantley, Cap't Dave, and the rest of the KRVSA crew who made this one of the best ones ever.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!

matt & laura
