Diggin is right, LS9 cam does work well I started with that cam then swapped to an GM ASA road racing cam, motor came alive and the throttle response between 3,000 and 5,300 is amazing its low lift so you came use ls6 .560 lift springs or Basic BTR ls6 spring 89.00 for the set. Found my cam new in box for 200.00 GM ASA 226/236 .525/.525 109.9 LSA Very impressive little cam I even swapped to my current 6.0. Also ran it carbed the EFI is supposed to be hard to tune at idle. MY motor idles at 650 no problem. ASA cam was design to run in parameters of a stock corvette in a road race scenario 3,000-6,000 on and off the gas for a long duration.
COMP has a new HV cam, BTR has a few like the Truck Norris cam(we just put one in a buddies LS1 Boat it runs great) OR spend 20 with BTR and they will design one for you.
I am building a 408 stroker spent 20.00 with BTR and was impressed with the amount of time there Cam designer Nick spent with me on the phone. He never push me in a specific direction like several other cam companies did just like to what I want and answered my questions. I am very happy with the way the cam turned out.
. There are a lot of people the will tell you need a high lift cam. But lift is only a of the many consideration in picking a cam.
I will say that stock ls heads flow well to about .550 lift then they start to back off the flow number quickly after that, so much over lift over that really isn't gonna do much.
Good Luck with what ever direction you go
